10 Best Drew Barrymore Movies List

Updated on October 3, 2016

Favorite Gal Pal Drew Barrymore

Who in this world doesn't love Drew Barrymore? Not only is she considered one of America's best sweethearts, but is also a fantastic actress. She plays quirky at its best and we love to empathize with her characters. Drew Barrymore movies are perfect for those rainy days or even for girls night in.

My mother and I have always been *huge* Drew Barrymore fans!  Yes, she's not the hottest girl on the block, but she is the most fun! I've recently built up my very own Drew Barrymore movie collection, and wanted to make a Top 10 list. Please leave comments of your favorite Drew Barrymore movies at the end! I'd love to hear more Drew Barrymore movie recommendations.

So, here are my picks for the 10 Best Drew Barrymore Movies!

10. Music and Lyrics

Short Plot: Washed up singer, Alex Fletcher (Grant) lives comfortably in Manhattan, but has been out of work for some time.  He gets a chance to write a song for famed teen idol Cora Corman.  He has good melodies, but no lyrics.  This is where our favorite gal comes in!  Not only is she watering his plants, but has the best lyrics! Not only does this movie have cheesy songs, but who doesn't want to listen to Hugh Grant serenade Drew Barrymore?

Other Stars: Hugh Grant

Rated: PG-13

IMDB rating: 6.6/10

9. Charlie's Angels

Short Plot: A sexy crime-fighting trio who are masters of disguise, espionage and martial arts? We say yes! Along with angels Diaz and Liu, Barrymore tries to fight the mastermind who plotted to destroy their privacy. Along the way, a deep secret is revealed that could harm the angels! Yes, its not exactly cinema at its best, but it's good ole' fashioned action fun.

Other Stars: Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu

Rated: PG-13

IMDB rating: 5.5/10

8. Riding in Cars with Boys

Short Plot: I love the chubbier, early Drew Barrymore!  This one's about a young 15-year-old girl having a child and dealing with a drug-abusing father.  It's all about doing everything right and wrong and getting over it.

Other Stars: Steven Zahn, Brittany Murphy

Rated: PG-13

IMDB rating: 6.2/10

7. Going the Distance

Short Plot: Erin and Garrett find themselves in a difficult cross-country relationship. Will they make it through the distance? Not only is this a funny romantic comedy, but you'll find out if long distance relationships can really work.

Other Stars: Justin Long, Christina Applegate

Rated: R

IMDB rating: 6.4/10

6. E.T.

Short Plot: We all know and love this movie from childhood so no need for a plot. It is the first and highest ranked movie Drew Barrymore has starred in.  It only ranks 6 on my list because Drew Barrymore doesn't have a huge part in it. Regardless: baby Drew + a cute alien = magic!

Other Stars: Henry Thomas

Rated: PG

IMDB rating: 7.9/10

5. Never Been Kissed

Short Plot: Josie Geller is a journalist who returns to high school for an undercover story.  Her own high school days were of misery, but plans to change all that with this second chance.  Poofy hair, prom and hot teachers. This one is a major girls movie night winner!

Other Stars: Jessica Alba, Michael Vartan, David Arquette

Rated: PG-13

IMDB rating: 5.7/10

4. 50 First Dates

Short Plot: I don't want to give the plot away, but this is a perfect romantic movie date.  The Sandler-Barrymore chemistry is kitschy and kute! It does get a little cheesy, but only in a good way.

Other Stars: Adam Sandler, Rob Schneider

Rated: PG-13

IMDB rating: 6.8/10

3. Ever After

Short Plot: The *real* story behind Cinderella.  This is one of my absolute favorite Drew Barrymore movies.  The acting, the costumes and the accents make it all worthwhile.  Plus, you can't miss Anjelica Houston's performance as the evil stepmother!

Other Stars: Anjelica Houston

Rated: PG

IMDB rating: 6.9/10

2. Confessions of a Dangerous Mind

Short Plot: This is the story of a legendary showman's leading a double life.  TV producer by day, CIA assassin by night.  This is an amazing movie with surprisingly, some great comedic relief moments.

Other Stars: George Clooney, Sam Rockwell, Julia Roberts

Rated: R

IMDB rating: 7.1/10

1. The Wedding Singer

Short Plot: Adam Sandler is a singer, and our girl Barrymore, is a waitress. They are both engaged to be married, but to the wrong people.  This is probably my favorite Drew Barrymore movie.  I get absolutely sentimental when Sandler starts to sing.  This one's a must-not-miss!

Other Stars: Adam Sandler

Rated: PG-13

IMDB rating: 6.8/10

I'm glad you voted for "The Wedding Singer" as #1. Haven't got tired of that movie. Aside from the 80s nostalgia, it was a funny movie too. Billy Idol had the acting chops lol. :)

"50 First Dates" is funny too and touching at the same time :)

You did a very good job on this, yenajeon! I like the layout and short plot summaries. Anyway, Drew Barrymore has always been very likeable and cute. She never plays the bitch, does she? I can't believe how chubby she was in "Riding in Cars with Boys. Thanks. Later!

Jools99: Thanks for the comment! By 'The Perfect Catch' I think the movie is also called 'Fever Pitch.' That was also a good one too!

Great hub, loved your 'short plot' feature, brilliant photos too. I liked her in 50 First Dates and The Perfect Catch. Voted up.

justateacher: I actually remember something about her father also being an actor, but I don't think I was around when they were famous! Regardless, I thought about adding Fire Starter to the list, but it just wasn't my idea of "girls night in!" Thanks!

      johncimble: I couldn't agree more.

pmccray: Yes, comedic timing is everything. Bullock is one of my favorites as well. I'll probably be doing her movies next!

I feel there is nothing sexier than a beautiful woman with true talent and comedic timing. Barrymore, Diaz, Bullock and Aniston are well endowed with these attributes. Voted up, marked interesting. Thank you for sharing.

I fell in love with Drew Barrymore before ET (my mom was a fan of the older Barrymores and I knew about her before a lot of people did. I don't think there is a Drew Barrymore movie that I don't like. Agree with E.T. as a great one, but I loved Fire Starter more than any other one.
