1. Underworld: Awakening (Jan. 20)

When the first Underowrld film came out I didn't see it as something extraordinary, still don't really but it has survived this far and has many fans.

In this sequel (not prequel as many thought it would be) BioCom is attempting to create super Lycans, after a 15 years Selene wakes from a coma to find that she has a 14 year old daughter, it is up to them to stop BioCom.

The film is set to be released in 3D.

2. Journey Ii: The Mysterious Island (feb. 10)

Created as a sequel to Journey To The Center Of The Earth rewritten from a script by Richard Outten. Unfortunately this time around Bredan Fraser will not return, maybe he's off to do a sequel for Furry Vegeance who knows. In this film Sean's grandfather goes missing on a mysterious island and it is up to Sean(Josh Hutcherson) and his mother's boyfriend (Dwayne Johnson) to find him.

The film will be released in 3D.

3. Ghost Rider: Spirit of Vengeance (feb. 17, 2012)

Yet another Ghostrider film, I did think after the last one with Nicolas Cage I was hoping it was a one shot deal. I read Ghostrider comics as a child and much like many of the other superhero films it disgusts me when ever they severely warp of change the story altogether simply to please the mainstream. The comics were legends, the films are not. Either way I was always drawn more to the Daniel Ketch storyline of the 1990s than that of Johnny Blaze.

In this film after hiding from the world for several years hoping his powers would go away Blaze agrees to protect a mother and son being pursued by a super natural being called Blackout.

This film will be released in 3D.

4. Snow White 3D (march 16, 2012)

Unlike the original or the Disney version this film has Snow White teaming up with the seven dwarfs to take back the kingdom after being taken over by her step-mother. I've always been one for the classic family Disney version but this one done in 3D and staring Julia Robertson should be interesting.

Of course this film will be released in 3D.

5. Scary Movie 5 (april 20, 2012)

That this series became a series at all is mind boggling to me but yet again they are releasing a sequel to the Scary Movie series. So far leaks say the director was looking at parody of the Final Destination series, Paranormal Activity and Child's Play series.

6. The Avengers (may 12, 2012

This much like many other superhero movie makes me have mixed feelings. Anyone who has been following my articles know I am at heart a comics purist. I believe the comics are like the written bible of the story line for each character being portrayed in these movies, if the story deviates slightly from the original I can usually handle it but when it deviates horribly or is completely rewritten I could literally walk out of the theatre and vomit. I don't believe in drastically changing a story line to fit in with what mainstream audiences want after all that is what made most of these comics story lines great, they went against the grain. Having bad writing hack them up in order to make a large amount of money is called selling out. They have one chance to do Avengers right or to me they will have ruined numerous characters at once.

The premise as understood so far is that Nick Fury assembles a team to battle an enemy that threatens global security. Which is still pretty sparse on information most superhero movies are about a battle of good vs. evil. But certainly a film to watch for.

7. Men in Black III (may 25, 2012)

It isn't often that a film series does another film (other than a remake) a decade after the last film however if anyone can pull it off it has to be Will Smith. Throughout most of his career films staring Will Smith have made hundreds of millions at the box office almost every time. Adding Emma Thompson and especially Jermaine Clement (who I might add is an awesome comedian) the the roster has already increased the anticipation.

Little is available on the plot of the series other than it is based on the comic book series by Lowell Cunningham. The film will be released to 3D.

8. The Amazing Spider-man (july 3, 2012)

Not sure what to call this one prequel, reboot, remake or just spiderman for the younger generation? As it is they just finished a film series of three mammoth spiderman movies which really established a storyline for Spider-man coming up with a film for Spider-man this soon after that is clearly just a cash grab. All the previous films are at the top of the highest grossing films list and this is just another chance to make a pile of money and dilute the Spider-man story further. Of course many an incredible plot and acting will make me change my mind but I doubt it.

Staring younger actors Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone currently catching mainstream popularity the film follows the development of Peter Parker into Spider-man in his teenage years. This film is also being released in IMAX 3D and 3D.

9. Ice Age: Continental Drift (july 13, 2012)

I've always had a soft spot for Ice Age, it is an original series with excellent voice actors and comedy mixed with adventure. John Leguizamo as Sid is so unlike many of the characters he's protrayed in other films you really get to see his range as an actor and I think it suits him more these days. Ray Romano and Dennis Leary also both have a distinct humor that as a trio they have managed to make this series that I find very enduring.

In this film with continental drift setting in Manny, Sid and Diego are set adrift on an iceberg and encounter many sea creatures on their adventure. This film will be released in 3D.

10. The Dark Knight Rises (july 20, 2012)

One thing can be said for the Batman movies much like the Spider-man movies and that is that they always bring in the money. The last film riding on a dead actor and a mountain of effects and car chases grossed an enormous amount. So with the next film my prediction is that is they continue in much the same way it will probably out do the second film. Overall I found the second film interesting there was some good acting in it but when I watch it I feel like I'm watching something other than Batman. It like most movies in the past several years seem to concentrate more on flash than actual story. I expect I will feel the same about the new film.

Little is truly known about the premise of the film other than it will conclude the trilogy. Characters introduced in the film are Selina Kyle/Catwoman and Bane, which from the comics is known as the super villian who broke Batman's back.

This film will be released in 3D.

Scary Movie 5 should be good - never heard it was coming out. Also looking forward it Dark Knight and Spiderman. I think Ice Age has went a touch too far like Shrek, this one won't be worth seeing; in my opinion

I think The Avengers could be good, but I doubt that I would see any of the others. MIB I did so well but II wasn't so good, in my opinion. A helpful article for outlining some of the upcoming films. Thanks for this handy compilation.
