The tight knit hard rock sound spread globally becoming an independent musical entity in the realms of rock. A new sense of musical freedom prevailed with hard rock songs in the 80s and early 90s. Glam metal bands and hair metal bands started being associated with the Hard rock scene. The term Hard Rock was used as an umbrella term to describe a brand of metal music in the realms of rock.
