List Two: 10 Funniest Comedians

Updated on July 24, 2009

Laughter is the Best Medicine

Every one has heard the old addage that laughter is the best medicine. Well, it truly is. Laughing has many health benefits including those for physical, emotional, and mental health. A good hearty laugh makes you feel good and relaxes your muscles up to 45 minutes which helps to relieve stress and anxiety.

Laughing also improves the functioning of blood vessels leading to increased blood flow and a reduced risk of cardiovascular disease. In addition, laughter decreases stress hormones while increasing infection-fighting antibodies thereby boosting your immune system.

Of course it is more fun to enjoy a good laugh with someone else as opposed to sitting in a room laughing alone---people will think you've fallen off your rocker! This is a good thing because sharing laughter is actually beneficial. It promotes bonding, strengthens relationships, and enhances teamwork.

Don't forget that on average you burn 1.3 calories while laughing--So, I guess that means laughing can contribute to weight loss.

Get Ready to Laugh

In light of all these great health benefits I have devoted this list to the 10 funniest comedians.  So, grab your tissues and be prepared to laugh until you cry.  As you will see, the first three names on this list are technically the same guy but being that he has various personalities, I chose to list them separately.

Enjoy  : )

1. Achmed the Dead Terrorist (Jeff Dunham)

Jeff Dunham born in Dallas, Texas in 1962 has created a huge following of loyal fans that anxiously await his new work while promoting him to family, friends, and to any one who will listen. Fans of Jeff Dunham have been likened to fans of Nascar!

His style of comedy is not traditional stand-up but rather a unique show of characters that he has created. Some of his characters (puppets) include Achmed the Dead Terrorist, Peanut, Walter, Bubba J, and Jose Jalapeno on a Stick. As a ventriloquist, Jeff Dunham does an excellent job voicing these characters while giving them each their own unique personalities.

This guy is a comedic GENIUS!!! Not to mention he's easy on the eyes. If you have not seen any of his work then you are in for a real treat : )

2. Peanut (Jeff Dunham)

3. Walter (Jeff Dunham)

4. Jeff Foxworthy

Jeff Foxworthy, born and raised in Georgia is a multi-talented, multi-faceted entertainer. He starred in the widely famous movie "The Blue Collar Comedy Tour."  However, he is most famously known for his stand-up comedy and his "You might be a redneck if" jokes he is also an accomplished singer/song writer and author.

5. Bill Engvall

Bill Engvall, born and raised in Galveston, Texas Bill starred alongside Jeff Foxworthy in the immensely famous "Blue Collar Comedy Tour."  In addition to being a funny stand-up comic, he is a talented actor, author, and singer/song writer.

Most widely known for his "Here's Your Sign" jokes.

6. Larry the Cable Guy

Git R Done!! The infamous catch phrase of Larry the Cable Guy. Born in 1963 as Daniel Lawerence Whitney has a backward, hillbilly style of stand-up comedy, Larry co-starred with Jeff Foxworthy and Bill Engvall in the "Blue Collar Comedy Tour." In addition to being a hilarious comic, Larry was the voice of Mater in the popular children's movie "Cars" and starred in other various movies such as "Witless Protection," "Delta Farce" and "Health Inspector."

7. Ron "Tater Salad" White

A native Texan, Ron White skyrocketed to stardom thanks to starring alongside Jeff Foxworthy, Bill Engvall, and Larry the Cable Guy in the hit "Blue Collar Comedy Tour." His stage presence--cigar smoking and scotch drinking--makes the timing of his jokes perfect.

He dubbed himself "tater salad" during a hilarious scene that details a run-in with the police after being drunk in public.  See the video clip.

8. Kevin James

Kevin James is best known for his role as Doug Heffernon on "The King of Queens."  However, he started out as a stand-up comic in Long Island.  It wasn't long after that we was discovered and has been successfully making movies such as "I Now Pronounce You Chuck and Larry" and "Paul Blart: Mall Cop."

9. Adam Sandler

Born in 1966 in Brookyln, New York, Adam Sandler is most famously known as an actor however, he started out as a stand-up comedian. He is also widely popular for his goofy songs such as "Lunch Lady" and "The Hanukkah Song."

My favorite movie of his has to be "Happy Gilmore"--he made the rather dull game of golf fun! Now that takes talent : )  Take a look at the video clip to see some funny moments from this great movie.

10. Jim Carey

Ahh...Jim Carey! What can I say about him? He's a very talented, gifted actor who brings humor to everything he does. Although his movie resume is very long, I can easily pick his two best movies: "Me, Myself, and Irene" and "Liar Liar."

This video clip is a classic from his days on "In Living Color."

Wasn't that fun??

Well, I hope everyone enjoyed this list and I hope you all had a good laugh.
