Denmark's Winning 2013 Eurovision Song: Only Teardrops: Emmelie de Forest

Why was the Eurovision Song Contest 2014 held in Copenhagen?

Under the rules of the European Broadcasting Union, the winning country from the previous year hosts the current year's event.

In 2013, Emmelie de Forest won the Contest with the song Only Teardrops and thus the competition came to Denmark in 2014.

Here is a reminder of the winning song from 2013.

Eurovision CD in the UK

If you're searching for a complete collection of all of the entries at the 59th Eurovision Song Contest, then this is the one for you.

All 37 songs from the nations taking part are included along with a rather nice bonus track from the 2013 winner Emmelie de Forest.

As usual with Eurovision there is an eclectic mix of tracks, some good and some a little bizarre.

I think 2014 will be remembered for a plethora of ballads and possibly a drag queen with a beard!

Available in both CD and download formats.

A strange mix as always. This is the first time I have ever listened to the songs before the actual contest. On first listen I would say the UK is in with a chance, but the one I think might win is Romania. Of course the Ukraine might just get a sympathy vote from the rest of the Eastern Bloc.
