Try It You Might Like It

Are you a fan of country music? If your response is "Heck no" I hope this article changes your mind. Please consider being open-minded when reading my reasons.

Some reasons might not make much sense unless you are familiar with country tunes, but I hope they tempt you to watch some of the videos I posted.

You just might enjoy an entire new genre of music and you might thank me one day. You might also never speak to me again, but that's OK, at least you tried to expand your music library.

You either like or dislike hillbilly hits. I suggest you give the country music of today a try. The twangy tunes have changed over the years. It's not as sad and depressing as you might believe. You might actually have a good time and want to consider jamming to it every day.

The old-time fans either aren't pleased with the change or they molded into the new country pop. I never had to mold because I easily feel in awe with modern country artists of today. I also appreciate the country music superstars of yesterday.

I enjoy the good ole tunes of the past, but I love the hits of the past 15 years more. My journey with being a fan of country music began with Tim McGraw. His songs roped me in. I was in the closet for a few years, but I eventually was brave enough to come out and say "I love country music!"

I have since convinced others to join me on the country music rodeo ride. I never looked back and neither have they. Trust me when I say I never thought some of my family and friends who now enjoy country music would ever, ever listen to it.

They realized that you could appreciate a multitude of musical tunes and experience a whole new world of musical talents.

If after you read my reasons you feel that I convinced you, please leave a YEE-HAW in the comment section below!

For now kick back and enjoy the ride.

28 Reasons to Love Country Music

  1. There are many ideas for the use of a red solo cup. Toby Keith shares some suggestions.
  2. When sung backwards everything you lost comes back. When sung forwards you get lost in the melody and never want the song to end.
  3. Plenty of ideas for activities on a rainy day. Or you could listen to many rainy day songs on a rainy day.
  4. You could get a buzz just from listening to the many country songs about alcohol, drinking and bar brawls.
  5. You burn calories from hootin', hollerin' and stompin'.
  6. Ideas for unique ways to dump your mate or reasons why you dumped your mate.
  7. If you are considering the purchase of a pick-up truck country music songs have many suggestions.
  8. You could learn how to be more patriotic and how to kick someone's ass who messes with the good ole US of A!
  9. Tips on Nascar, racing cars, hunting, fishing and tending to a farm.
  10. There are many suggestions on how you could tell your boss that he could take that job and shove it.
  11. Many suggestions for beach bums, such as toes in the water and country girls shaking it.
  12. Ideas on how to escape reality. We all need to escape once in a while.
  13. You could learn to count up to ten with Jose Cuervo.
  14. The songs remind us why we should appreciate family and friends. Also how to live like we were dying.

Kenny Chesney

15. What to do when having issues with a cowboy casanova who is candy-coated misery! He messed with the wrong girl!

16. To be thankful for the small things in life such as where the green grass grows and where the blacktop ends.

17. Country music songs are stories that we could all relate to in one way or another. They could help guide us, offer comfort or give us the strength to move forward.

18. Makes us realize that Nashville, honky tonks and boondocks are places we all want to visit!

19. That you could look darn good in Frye boots, a Stetson hat and a pair of wranglers!

20. You could acquire some tips on how to ride and rope at a rodeo!

21. Could make you consider saving a horse and riding a cowboy!

22. Who would have thought a tractor and farm equipment would be considered sexy? Country music might make you think they are!

23. Cowboys are more than just a dude with a hat. They are hardworking, honest folk.

24. Who to consider putting in a song while driving in your car and turning it up loud!

25. Many ideas for summertime activities. Water, Ticks, Flowers are just some songs!

26. That you could be a black bird or a songbird, but you better believe "You Gonna Fly!

27. When you are ready to let go and pass the wheel to Jesus, these songs could offer guidance.

28. We could learn from a Wild One, such as a Mississippi girl when to breathe and when it's the right time for that kiss!

Keith Urban - You Gonna Fly!

Carrie Underwood - Jesus Take The Wheel

Faith Hill - Breathe

Tim McGraw - Live Like You Were Dying

YeeHaw! I've loved Country Music twice as long as you have... Check out my hub page... This Country's Bigger Than Texas! ...but I'm now in my second Teenhood...

I lived 7 years in Nashville...like a permanent vacation! I have met/interviewed/had photos taken with upwards of 40 entertainers, which will be profiled into a book, Out Among The Stars...eventually. At present, I am putting some of it together for a hub, but not done yet.

I also have a couple hub articles on my hero, Kris Kristofferson!!!!

Thanks for loving Country! You can make a believer out of some of those haters...!!!

Way to go, Crow! I appreciate you sharing your perspective. I do agree that country music has changed, not for the better, but in a different direction...pop country is good, classic country is better. Craig Morgan is awesome!

I think u might not fully understand country music and how great it used to be. I'm 15 but the most mature person I know my age. The old way of life was great. My life is great now but if I had a choice to go back I would trash this life and hit the past with no memory of this life. Listen to almost home my Craig Morgan. Great song. This world we live in today is overrun with technology. U can't even know ur neighbors hardly today and I live in a small town. I want to have fun, and I try to stay away from any video games cause once I play one u lose the sense that u live in the real world. U don't see a reason to talk to others and country isn't just a music genre. It's a way of life, a style of thinking. It's realizing u need a life and go getting one. It's having fun with actual people and not ur phone, drinkin a beer with friends, realizing when to be serious or when to joke. It's fixing the world one step at a time.

Excellent hub and very enjoyable videos!

I love country music, though in India it is slightly different. But music has no knowledge, as they say. It appeals to the senses.

I'm from Virginia , so its natural I should love Country music. George Strait and Patsy Cline are my favorites. I also love early 1990s Country music. I don't really like the newer stuff as much. Far too commercial and sort of sounding more like Rock music. But I do enjoy the classics.

Whoa!!! Talk about a wake-up call. Sunshine, the selections you've posted have kind of struck a chord.....Especially Tim McGraw. Live Life like you're Dying! and Faith Hill, and I actually liked them....I'm a Philly girl, and it's always been Rock, Metal, Jazz, Classical...never got a taste for the 'older' country/western but I reallylike what you've introduced me to in this! Voted Up, Awesome, Interesting, Useful, and the whole thing Beautifully put together. Thank you for teaching me I had a pretty closed-mind attitude without dipping my toes in first!!! Oh, yeah, sharing too. I can't believe this...I'm saving it to my Favorite stuff too! LOL Thanks so much

Actually, much of country music today resembles the Country Rock genre of the 70's, when The Marshall Tucker Band, Lynyrd Skynyrd, Little Feat, ZZ Top, Allman Brothers, Barefoot, Jerry, and many more were kickin' it strong. I do miss some of the legends, such as Barbara Mandrell, Crystal Gayle, and even Conway Twitty upon occasion. Still, on most days, I'm still a rocker. Btw, doesn't Trace Adkins say that Country music songs are about life? Anyway, let me find my horse and hitch him up to the pickup so I can go get drunk thinkin' about the girl that left me while my dog goes and get hit by a train. Great Job! : )

But I do love some of the newer singers on the scene and get a kick out of the fun songs like "Red Solo Cut" that just appeal to everyone. Country songs appeal to just about every emotion from patriotism to love, to revenge to joy...a reflection of life! Thanks for a fun hub!

Linda, I love your 28 reasons to love Country music, especially #2 - When sung backwards everything you lost comes back.

Country was my favorites in the '70-'80's, but fell as a priority when I realized it intensified my depression. I still have many favorite C&W songs, but enjoying them quite selectively with songs that can keep me in a positive mood.

With music we can control our moods very successful - it is so much healthier than anti-depressants and all kinds of artificial mood stabilizers.

      Voted up and entertaining :)

BTW - You look quite sexy in your country outfit :)

Even if I live in Finland, I can feel a connection to the country songs. Maybe it's because I grew up in the countryside. I listened to Faith Hill and Garth Brooks in the 90's. During my years in Stockholm I felt like country music didn't fit in my lifestyle. I think I just listened to Shania Twain back then and I saw here live on a concert in Stockholm 2004. When I moved back to Finland and to the countryside I started listening to country music again. Kenny Chesney, Keith Urban, Tim McGraw, Billy Currington, Carrie Underwood and many more are great country singers. I love country music and your hub is awesome!

I think Country music of recent is awesome. Like all genres, they grow and evolve and I think Country has embraced that in the best possible way. Of course there are always old timers who think Country music should stay one way but it wouldn't reflect the changing times or cultural norms as well if it was all like Hank Sr. and Patsy Cline. This gets a big Yee Haw from me!
