Top Ten Unique Romantic Movies With a Twist

Updated on December 6, 2013
Source

Here is a list of movies you must see at least once in your life. They are the kind of movies that awaken your senses, captivate your mind and make you think and imagine. If you like movies with interesting plot, twists, some romance, history, thrill, and mystery, then you should watch some or all of them.

1. The Illusionist

A story of forbidden love of a magician and a noble lady. Magician Eisenheim (Edward Norton) in early 1900s Vienna surprises his audiences with amazing magical shows, and he meets a beautiful Sophie (Jessica Biel) at one of his performances.

2. The Red Violin

A story of The Red Violin's journey through four centuries and five different countries is told in this beautifully made Award winning movie.

The Red Violin

3. The Lake House

Unusual love story of two people separated by time, they live in the same house by a lake, but they are away from each other by two years .

The Lake House

4. Anthony Zimmer

French romantic thriller, with English subtitles, starring beautiful and very talented Sophie Marceau as Chiara Manzoni. Chiara is in love with a career criminal Anthony Zimmer, who is in disguise and is wanted by a police all over the world. This story was later remade by Hollywood into The Tourist (2010). But I think, this original French film is by far superior.

5. The Notebook

Which list of romantic movies wouldn't be without The Notebook? The story of true love, faithfulness and lasting relationship.

The Notebook

6. Scent of a Woman

Al Pacino is again at his best in this film about a man who "saw" women with his eyes closed, he was able to tell a lot of things about a woman just by her scent.

7. Dances with Wolves

This epic western film is a winner of seven Academy Awards. It's a must-see movie, one of Kevin Costner's best roles.

8. Forrest Gump

Forrest Gump is another Academy Award winning film, about a boy who grows up to have a very eventful and interesting life, movie shows a life of Forrest and with him a portion of American history and is brilliantly played by Tom Hanks.

9. Chocolat

A story of a young mother who arrives to a French village with her daughter and opens a chocolate shop. A story about love, acceptance, transformation and rebirth.

Chocolat

10. Black Book

Black book is a Dutch language film with English subtitles. It's a rather dark story about a Jewish young woman who became a spy in Netherlands during World War II. Definitely not for children under the age of 18.
