5 Inspiring Christian Movies

Sophie Scholl; The Final Days Academy Award Nominee

Sophie Scholl - The Final Days

1.) Sophie Scholls; The Final Days

Although produced by an Athiest, this movie could well be viewed as a Christian movie as it does an excellent portrayal of the group 'The White Rose' in Nazi Germany and the clash of their Christian convictions against the National Socialist philosophy of 'blood and soil' that saw the existential value of mankind as nothing more than the product of heredity and environment. This is an amazingly acted movie that one awards at the German and European Film Festivals.

2.) Ben Hur

One of the greatest classics of all time, this story follows a Jewish Prince in the time of Jesus. Judah Ben Hur suffers the injustice of being sentenced to hard labor for a crime he never committed. It is a story about injustice, hatred, revenge, suffering, forgiveness, redemption, and transformation. It is a story about how Jesus Christ changes people's lives every day even in the midst of injustice and suffering. It is a story that brings to life the historic era of Jesus to the modern day viewer.

God's Not Dead

3. God's Not Dead

This is a great movie addressing the attacks of atheism against the notion that God exists. Its a movie and its really hard to thoroughly convey abstract intellectual ideas in a movie, but it does a great job of exposing the irrational thinking and hardened commitment of atheists such as Charles Darwin to ideas that do not make sense. It also demonstrates that Theism is on solid intellectual ground and that those who adhere to theism have a reasonable intellectual basis on which to do so. Its a movie meant to communicate that indeed, the concept of God is not dead in the intellectual and global community and that there are valid compelling reasons for believing in God.

4.) Fireproof

This movie is known for its powerful message, not its exceptional acting. Its a great movie about marriage, the value and importance of marriage and how a husband and wife can nurture, inflame, and rekindle their marriage when it is struggling. It is a movie about the complex issues that many marriages face and the rewards of actively energizing a marriage by taking the lead in expressing and demonstrating love to your Spouse. Its a movie focused on communicating the message that people should not give up so easily on marriage.

The Inn of the Sixth Happiness

5.) The Inn of the Sixth Happiness

The Inn of the Sixth Happiness is a great film that recounts the story of missionary Gladys Aylward who ends up rescuing alot of children in China during a time when Japan invaded mainland China. In the movie, Gladys leads an orphanage of kids through the wilderness to escape Japanese forces and get them to safety. This is a long movie that looks not only at this particular event in Gladys life but also her journey to China and her acculturation to Chinese ways at the end of the 19th century.
