5 Reasons being young is Awesome

Updated on November 9, 2017

Oxford English Dictionary, Define Awesome.

"Extremely impressive or daunting; inspiring great admiration, apprehension, or fear:"

Let's look at the oxford english dictionary to define Awesome

Yea right.

We will just define awesome as extremely impressive. That's pretty much all we need to know. While I could go into where it came from, origins and what not and trust me the oxford english dictionary can do just that, I won't. I will just keep it short and start my list. So lets get to being awesome.

5. Sleep

Stop reading right here and go to sleep... I will wait.... good

Every morning I wake up at 5 am to go to work, except for Sundays, and this is awful. Like most adults, I believe this is the perfect time to be asleep. Well for that matter I think anytime you have to wake up earlier than a human should is kind of dumb. Anyway, When we were kids most of us slept as long as we wanted and some were young and reckless. We only did, because most parents want their kids asleep as long as possible, bonus for both of us.

The average night sleep should be 8 hours, given in range between 7 and 10. Why don't we get to sleep as long as we need, simply put, because we cannot. As times goes on our priorities change and sleep is the first to go. I remember when I was a teenager, sleep became a blockade for my life. I stay awake longer, then I have more time for friends...Right. I would stay up 2 days in a row for no reason, sneak out at night, and in general just not sleep.

As an adult I gotta say, I wish I would have slept more. I think my body could have used it, and adult me could definitely use it. So before I finish this hub, I am going to take a nap.

4. Brave New World

Wake up and step out into the brave new world

Everyday, I wake up I learn something new, but usually its just a useless fact, like the fact that llamas really can spit. Yea that helped me. There is a vast amount of information that can be learned, and I try to learn it as often as I can, including telekinesis. This is not the same as learning when you are young. Sometimes I get excited about something, although rare, and I really want to learn all about it. BUT, as a child everything is new, from how we learn to speak to how high we can actually jump. All the facts we learn as a kid are amazing, such a rush of knowledge thrown at us constantly. That was a great time for me.

Now with the advanced technologies, kids are actually one step in front of us. Most kids especially teenagers are a step ahead in whatever aspect of life we are doing. The internet provides more information then a teacher every could have hoped for. They jumped right to learning about everything while we will struggle to keep up. It is only in are experience that we can completely own them at monopoly, or checkers. Heck they could be brave new world "leaders"..

3. All work and no play? Nope

This was my favorite part of being a kid, sleep came in second. As a kid I always wondered why my mom had to go to work all the time, why she wasn't home when I needed her, well until like 5. I see as an adult why, with the need to pay bills and provide food for our families, it is very important. I now see what my childhood, that was sooo hard, was all about. nothing..except being a child. I never took into account how hard my mom worked to keep us happy. The term all work and no play is very clear to me now Simply put its ALL WORK and NO PLAY, are you even listening.

I remember thinking about how hard school was to get through. Every time you think about going in the morning you would want to sleep, same as now really. I get depressed before work, and count the minutes till i get to go home, as everyone should. Unless you have a good job. Did you ever think how much more you got to do though? How about the times you got to go outside and play with your friends, or have sleep-overs, field trips, or shave your neighbors dog. Enjoy not working kids this memory my be your last fun one.

Do you like to work?

2. Priority priorities

Did you have priorities? My Priority was sleep!!

Do you remember what you had to do as a kid, like chores? Well I do, and I gotta tell you I would rather be doing that than this. In a child's world your priorities consist mostly of; taking out the trash once a week, doing the dishes every once in a while, and feeding the dog. Yea, I do those things every morning, and while I am at it, add, pack my lunch, all before 6 am.

In a world were priority is second to fun, we are slipping from simple to none, and have no cares, we see a downward spiral in productivity.(LOOK OUT BELOW) For some kids all they have to do is make sure their pet gerbil doesn't have a stroke, or choke on straw. When I was growing up we had to do all the chorus and didn't get allowance for it. I know a 10-year-old that still has his mom make sandwiches for him. Oh to be a kid again.

1. Bad Thing : Acne

This was the absolute worst thing about being young. I didn't like it and I had to deal with it for a long time. I didn't even know why it was happening. I tried a bunch of different things, and it took me forever to clear it up. In case you want you know what helped, click here for my review of the product.

1. Making Friends

Making Friends ... WHY?

Do you know how hard it is to make friends as an adult. First you have to find a hobby or something in common with someone else then organize schedules to see where a party would fit. You would also have to meet family and kids. It is a hassle, unless you work with them and even then it can be difficult.

As a kid, to make friends you just go to school. You have a huge variety of people to talk to and a lot of time to get to know them. Unless you were or are one of those kids who doesn't have any friends. I am here to tell you it is gonna be harder to make friends as an adult.

I used to love meeting new people, while showing off my awesomer armpit noises. Which I still occasionally do at work. It does not have the same reactions as it used to though.

It is very hard being a kid sometimes, but the freedoms that children have are really not taken advantage of anymore, now everyone is at home playing video games. time you see your kids play online games with their new friends till 3 in the morning to get a new sword of destiny. Remember they are making friends, learning new skills putting important priorities first, while working their butt off. So when they go to sleep.... Take the game and toss it out the window and tell them to go get a job, cause that sword probably cost you...DIDN'T IT.

You know what are awesome inventions?

Invisible friends are awesome inventions, that's what. You can always count on them to be exactly where you need them to be which is in your head. Just thought I would mention this, because I was on the subject of awesome things.

Want to know more awesome inventions?

Pop tarts, vending machines, ninjas, tmnt, transformers, and pie. ok done......nope not yet

      5. Sleeping sounds wonderful I can't remember the last time I was able to sleep in!Last year for Valentine's Day I told my boyfriend all I wanted was a nap!

      4. The other day I learned that no matter how many times I push the "fan" button in my car, it will not turn the radio down. That's street smarts.

      3. Most of us are overworked, and unappreciated I'm sure. *Sigh* I miss sleepovers!

      2. I don't know about this one. My mom had the laminated, color coordinated, rotating chore charts. I just saw them again the other day and I noticed I was the only kid who had to do my own laundry. She said it was because I was the oldest, but I am sure it was just because she loved my brother and sister more!

      1. Yeah I can't say that armpit noises would inspire me to want to build a friendship with you. At least not if you opened with that.

You are very entertaining by the way. I'm glad i decided to check out your work tonight.
