5 Movies That You Will Remember

Updated on April 2, 2016

One viewing and you won't forget them

The average movie viewer has seen thousands of films, but some movies stay with the viewer days after seeing the movie. Movies that haunt you touch your emotions.Iit can be in a good way or a bad way. The movie can make you ponder on its theme or sympathize with the characters.

Here is a list of the movies that will make the unforgettable list:

No Country For Old Men this movie was made in 2007. It stars Javier Bardem, Josh Brolin, and Tommy Lee Jones. I could not get this movie out of mind for a few days after seeing it. The main character of the movie, Josh Brolin, comes upon a drug deal gone wrong out in the desert. He discovers dead bodies and over two million dollars in cash and decides to keep it for himself. It turns out to be a bad idea. A hit man enters the scene and begins a ruthless track to find him. The hit man is so cold blooded he flips a coin to determine his victims fates. A believer in good triumphs over evil this movie turns that belief inside out. Javier won a well-deserved Oscar for his role. Josh Brolin character has his hands full and you will feel for him as he tries to outwit his stalker.

The Dead Zone a 1983 movie that starred Christopher Walken and Brooke Adams. It is labeled a horror movie, but it is really a movie of a love that wasn’t meant to be. The main characters Johnny Smith and his girlfriend Sarah are teachers in love and are going to be married. Fate steps in and Johnny is injured in a car accident. When he comes out of his coma it is seven years later and time has moved on. Christopher Walken is so terrific in this role. You feel his sorrow, his fear, and his reluctance. His reluctance comes with the gift of being able to see things in the future. He can do this by touching someone’s hand. It is a gift and a burden, because it takes a huge toll on him whenever he does this. It will have you thinking of how well you would do if you possessed this power. You will also wish that the movie could have had another ending, one that would show Johnny the life he so wanted.

Goodfellas was released in the year 1990. It stars Ray Liotta, Robert DeNiro, and Joe Pesci. It is the movie that paved the way for the series The Sopranos. Ray Liotta’s character is shown looking up to the gangsters in his neighborhood and wanting to grow up to be one himself. It is based on a real person named Henry Hill. It makes the movie even more haunting. The guys he hangs out with seem likeable and fun to be around, but in the next instant they can turn into psychopaths who have no remorse in killing anyone they feel threatened by. This movie is very intelligently made, and you will get an insider’s view of life as a gangster. It will leave you wondering are the rewards really worth the risks? You will soon find out that the life expectancy of a gangster can be limited.

Saving Private Ryan this movie was made in 1998 and has a very talented cast with Tom Hanks in the starring role as Capt. John Miller. The movie captures your emotions right off the bat as you are deposited in a war zone on Omaha Beach during the Normandy invasion. You will feel the fear and the fight for life as these soldiers try to make a stand against the Nazis who are already there. You feel like you are right there with Captain John Miller and his group. You hope that they will all make it out alive. The film shows how horrible war is and how all human life is precious.

Gladiator this movie came out in the year 2000. It stars Russell Crowe as a Roman General. He is shown favor by the Emperor and the Emperor’s son is furious. He seeks his revenge on Russell’s character Maximus. He has Maximus’s family killed and Maximus is forced to become a gladiator. This movie will haunt you because all that matters to Maximus is taken away. He is forced day after day to fight for his life. It is truly an unforgettable movie.

What makes a movie unforgettable? It is the movie that touches your emotions and makes you think. It is the movie that you remember days after seeing it, and one that you want to tell others about. When it happens you know the movie is truly special.

I clicked on this article because I thought I was going to get an opinion on some great horror films - but this works too.

This is a great hub. I have seen all these films and enjoy them all quite a bit, especially The Dead Zone and Saving Private Ryan. I'm not sure that any of these movies "haunt" me in the way you're talking about.

For that kind of take-away I'd have to say that The Virgin Suicides would be the movie that has stuck with me the most. It's not even one of my favorite films (although it's very, very good) but the story and the way it is told are just...very heavy. You should watch it if you have never seen it.

Thanks JKenny you are right "No Country for Old Men" was the movie that really got to me. How evil seemed to triumph over good was hard to take. Javier was really scary.

Good list, I've seen all the films on this list, and the only one that haunts me to this day, is 'No Country for Old Men' Javier Bardem's character still freaks me out today, he was the most cold blooded, undeniably evil man I've ever seen on a cinema screen. I agree, a well deserved Oscar for Javier.
