80's Rock Cringers
Ah The Eighties
A bit of fun for Friday.
Synthesisers, drum machines and mega perms, were the norm for eighties music. There is such a wealth of music so bad its good. So my finger is on the button of the way back machine. I have picked on the girls in this one but don't worry the boys will have their turn in a future page. WIthout any further ado let us have a look at the ladies who rocked the world not so long ago.
Samantha Karen Fox was the page three girl who shot to fame for appearing topless in the sun newspaper at the age of 16. In 1986 she realeased the single "Touch Me (I want your body)" which launched her to international stardom. Sam Fox was famous for her strategically ripped jeans and was seen has highly controversial at the time. Her clothes and lyrics are now fairly tame by todays standards but the hairstyle would still attract the attentions of the fashion police today. Give it up for Sam Fox.
Norma Sabrina Salerno is an Italian model, singer, tv host and actress. She shot to fame with the 1987 single "Boys Boys Boys (summertime love)" the video clip was outrageous in its day and would still raise eyebrows now. When researching this article I was dismayed to see an almost as dismal cover by "Paula" which is worthy of its own place in Cringeland. Put an umbrella in your Mai Tai sit back and watch Sabrina in her Prime.
Collette Roberts is another New Zealand born talent which Australia shall claim as their own. The fresh faced Collette didn't have the international success that Sam Fox and Sabrina had but I had a Massive crush on her in the day and whose page is it anyway? Collette shot to fame with a cover of the Anita Ward track "Ring My Bell"
Did I miss someone?
No Debbie Gibson or Martika? Well if you feel that strongly write a comment. Ask me nicely and I will add your favourite 80's Cringe Rocker.
