Updated on July 24, 2017

Movies can give us so much inspiration and bring life back into us. Here are some movies with inspiring stories that will thoroughly move your heart and can enjoy with the entire family.

Heaven is for Real (2014)

HEAVEN IS FOR REAL brings to the screen the true story of a small-town father son Colton who visitited Heaven in a near death experience. He describes the specific details of his journey.

The Ultimate Gift

This movie is funny, sad, romantic, great for the family and has many lessons about life to learn for anyone. It is about a wealthy man who dies and left his grandson Jason Stevens twelve gifts. These twelve gifts will teach him about life. It will also teach him about himself, exposing the selfishness, arrogance, and things in his heart. He needs these lessons since he grew up believing that everything will come very easy for him and handed down to him because of his family’s status and wealth. Take a look at what Jason has to go through.

Evelyn

Evelyn is about the true story of a father who is absolutely devastated when his wife abandoned their family after Christmas. With his unemployment and no mother in the family, Evelyn and her siblings are given to the courts. They are placed into an orphanage until the father can get a job and fully be able to take care of them. This movie shows a man’s intense struggle, sacrifice, obstacles, hardships with the courts to be reunited with all of his children. It is very moving, powerful story that will bring tears to your eyes and one can learn many life lessons.

I am David

I am David is based on Ann Holm's Novel. It is about David, a 12-year-old, escapes from a Communist concentration camp. He only has a bar of soap, bread, a letter and a compass. He is thrust into the world for the first time in his young life. Travel through with this young boy as he encounters many different experiences, good and bad and has to face many things. Gradually, David begins to trust people. He also begins to share, smile and just act like a child amidst the cruelties he encountered. And then finally he reunites with an unexpected relative. This movie stars Jim Caviezel, European actress Maria Bonnevie, and Joan Plowright, winner of two Golden Globes. This is amazing movie and story.

The Blind Side

This is based on the true story of a couple who took in a homeless African American teenager Michael "Big Mike." Michael’s biological mother was a drug addict and he did not know his father. Leigh Anne Tuohy his adopted mom, takes an active interest in his education and in providing the help needed to help succeed in football that made him qualify for an NCAA Division athletic scholarship. It is amazing that there are people out there who are willing to take a chance and believe in someone. Sandra Bullock plays Leigh Anne Tuohy. In this movie and true story, Leigh Anne enters dangerous territory that she never encountered before, but she enters and stays because she has something to accomplish and in making sure Michael does not end up not fulfilling his dreams and have a great future.

Beyond the Blackboard (2011)

This is a very inspirational story and a very true one as well. It is about a twenty four year old teacher who took her first job which turned out to be an absolute shock to her. Through this experience and the support of her husband, she learned many things about herself and teaching.

Beyond the Blackboard

A Mile in His Shoes

This movie is based on the novel, 'The Legend of Mickey Tussler.' This is such an inspiring story about a special young man with an amazing gift and the coach who recognized and believed in his ability to have an impact on his baseball team. It is about a baseball coach wants to recruit new people, so he crosses path with Mickey. Mickey lives on a farm, but has a great pitcher’s arm that he did not know about. But Mickey’s parents are hesitant to allow him to join the team because he has autism. The coach tried his best to convince his parents that he will be a great asset to the minor league baseball team.

Pay it Forward

This is a wonderful movie and if the world follows the things done in this movie it would be a better place. A boy responds to a school assignment of paying a favor not back, but forward, with a plan to help three people who will, in turn, help three more. This concept passed on touches more people than he ever expected.

Facing the Giants (2006)

In this moving story, Coach Grant Taylor has never led his team to a winning season in his six years of coaching. But after discovering a group of fathers wanted him to be dismissed, he cries out to God and searches for a bigger purpose for his football team. The team and this coach learned to face their fears, embrace faith and endure the many obstacles they have about themselves and as a person. This is a wonderful movie for the entire family to watch with many life lessons. One of these lessons are perseverance and never giving up and so much more.

Freedom Writers

I enjoyed this amazing movie. It is based on the book, The Freedom Writers Diary by Erin Gruwell. Hilary Swank took the role as Erin Gruwell in this movie. It is about a very persistent and dedicated teacher who fought to make a difference in inner city students and worked very hard to lead them on a better direction for their lives. Gruwell, who has succeeded with everything in her life, goes to the inner city of Los Angeles, to teach a group of at-risk teenagers. But they are not immediately open to her and she gets very frustrated. The students are also separated in racial groups in the classroom. Through giving them journals to share their heart and stories begins a very dynamic experience within the students.

Thanks for the list, Janellegems. You know, I haven't seen one of these movies! Guess I'll have to get caught up on them one of these days. Nevertheless, I've seen many movies - who hasn't? And I've written many hubs about them as well. In general, I suppose I prefer gritty realism and bawdy comedy, though "The Wizard of Oz" is one of my favorite movies. Bye!

The blind side truly very inspiring, and to real, a mother can be a mother to all who needs. So much love on her, and her family such a beautiful example.
