A Puppies Love

A Puppy Called "Hope."

Source

a heart touching story

A Puppies Love.

We bought a puppy to surprise,

and brighten up her sad blue eyes,

when she had just turned 9 years young,

after her cancer had begun.

A spark of life, a furry friend,

some comfort till she reached her end,

her eyes lit up when she saw him,

then they commenced to cuddling.

She called him "Hope" ...and yes he was,

her way to cope each day because,

her treatments laid her soul to waste,

until she saw his furry face.

Why did God choose

to take our babe,

at such a young

and tender age,

he holds the book

of life and death,

and turns

each fateful page,

his reasoning's

not mine to guage,

perhaps her dreams

he'd bookmarked there,

went far beyond

what earth could share,

But as an angel

she would find

sweet joy

beyond compare,

on heaven's distant

shores somewhere.

One doctor told us,

"There's no hope,"

but she just smiled

and told him..."Nope...

I've got the best

Hope ever known

waiting for me

when I get home."

Months passed us by,

and her hair thinned,

but she just looked

at us and grinned,

while telling us

" I still have Hope,

I'll brush his lovely

hair each day

Mine will grow back,

I'll be O.K."

One Summer day

we took her in

for tests with

her sad physician,

who grew stunned

at her condition

like a man who'd failed

on his mission

But then he smiled

with recognition,

at something

he had rarely seen...

and said "Your daughter's

in remission,"

her cancer screening

came up clean.

I've never ever danced

inside a hospital before

but I moved that day

like Fred Astaire

quick stepping

all across that floor,

sweeping my child

from her wheelchair

swinging her high

into the air

then back to my

arms evermore

But all my choreography

so full of glee and bliss...

could not ever compare to her

first, healthy puppy kiss,

they leaped and rolled and

laughed and ran

across the yard that day,

My child with hope

went back to play

and death at long last

crept away...............
