AC/DC say one thing and Johnson another.
It seems there has been confusing information coming out of the AC/DC camp and the Brian Johnson camp as to what is exactly going on as regards Johnson carrying on as the band's singer and front man.
Johnson was told by doctors that if he kept on singing with the band he risked complete and utter deafness. The band led pundits and all interested parties to understand that Johnson was then quitting the band to save his hearing and were in negotiations with Axl Rose of Guns and Roses to play the ten remaining concerts they had to do.
AC/DC have since announced they totally respect and understand that Johnson had to quit to save his hearing and said they were pleased that Rose had come aboard to help the band complete their tour.
Johnson for his part has said that his hearing is not half as bad as the rest of the band are making out and feels he has been quote "Kicked to the kerb".
Johnson was not the original singer of the band it was Bon Scott who died from a drinking binge in 1980.
Johnson's singing is instantly recognisable but his throat must go through some punishment and also his ears if it is as serious as the doctors have stated.
When one member of a band leaves or dies especially the front man some bands are never the same even though they carry on. One example of this might be Queen who are still together at least Roger Taylor and Brian May keep it going with John Deacon leaving some time ago and of course Freddie Mercury dying of AIDs but of course some fans may think otherwise.
Axl Rose has a job on his hands as he steps into Johnson's shoes to help AC/DC complete their tour and will be compared to Johnson by many die hard Johnson fans as he takes to the stage with AC/DC.
Whether Axl will be AC/DC's permanent singer remains to be seen as Axl also has to sing with his own band Guns and Roses.
