ALIEN Movie Prequel!!

Updated on August 22, 2010

If you haven't heard already the rumors are true!! They are making a new Aliens movie and I couldn't be more excited about it! The great thing is it is a Prequel to the original movie so we are going to get to find out how the Aliens came to the planet Ripley ended up landing on. The movie will also be directed by the original director Himself Ridley Scott!!! It was originally announced that Carl Rinsch would be directing the prequel with Ridley Scott producing it. Things stalled for a while and Fox wasn't very happy about doing the movie unless Ridley Scott was the director. In July 2009, it was confirmed that Ridley Scott would be directing the prequel.

In April 2010, Ridley Scott revealed a lot more details about the prequel:

"The film will be set in 2085, 30 years before Alien. It will be about the Space Jockey creature that we saw in Alien. The Weyland company will be in it and the movie will feature things about terraforming planets. He is also planning on re-designing new creatures – earlier versions of what led to the Face-hugger and possibly talking to H.R. Giger when things get moving. The story will also feature a strong female character. The movie will be shot in 3D. There are plans for two prequel movies but they will not be shot back-to-back.Ridley Scott also revealed that you’ll find out who the Space Jockey is and where he came from. He also hinted that the Space Jockey isn’t a creature itself, it’s a suit with a being inside."

There are also rumors that they will be consulting the original alien designer, H.R. Giger to help creating all new aliens! The face-huggers will be he same but the original aliens did not come from humans so they could have looked completely different from the ones we have been introduced to. So I cant wait to see what they come up with!

Scott said they hoped to have the movie in Theaters by late 2011 but at worst by 2012

The picture below is one of the first models for the original aliens movies, obviously they went with a different look but perhaps the movie will refer back to what they thought of the alien in the beginning, just a thought of mine, hmmmmm ;)

This is just an interesting photo I found of the Face-Hugger and exactly what it does to its human host. I don't know who created this picture since obviously it was just from someones point of you but I am really glad they made it!

Which ALIEN Film is your Favorite??

wow, thanks for giving us the inside scoop there glimmer. i can't believe i missed this bit of movie news. however, thanks for the heads up. i can't wait to see how this turns out. just one question though. has ridley scott directed anything since those alien movies? the reason I ask is because I know the star wars prequels came out crappy because george lucas had spent so much time not directing anything, that he somehow lost his touch in storytelling a bit. I just hope that's not the same case with ridley scott if he hasn't directed anything for a while. if he has, then i got no complaints or worries. thanks for the fun read.
