Work Work Work
I consider myself a workaholic. I got my work ethic from my grandpa. After a day off I'm ready to go again.
Do You Listen To Your Own Material?
I never get tired of hearing my own stuff before it's out before it's been released because it's so exciting
Yes I think. There's a fine line because like a part of you is, do I make this about my personal life right now or am I going to be secretive about this and whatever. Then at the end of the day and I'm like, you know what, I'm a 22 year old girl. If I'm not writing about what I'm directly feeling and what I'm going through in this moment, as genuinely as I can, then I'm feeling like I'm sacrificing my artistry and genuineness in my music and I don't want to do that. So it is personal as can be because I'm an open book and very easy to read and I'm a horrible liar. What you get is what you see.
My favourite filter on Instagram it Afterlife. Afterlife has a bunch of filters. I mess with the contrast and the grain. You gotta get it right.
Arianators is the name her fans call themselves.
They gave themselves that. I originally was calling them the "Ariana army" then "Tiny elephants". I don't know how that came about, but it stuck for a while.
When Her Fans Meet Her
There are 3 things that happen. They either come in very confidently and they know what they want. They know what poses they want for the pictures and they're full of energy. Or they come in crying and don't say much or there are the ones where the parents are forcing them to be there. They're like... "Girl, you wanted this!"
Be yourself in your most genuine possible way and be completely unafraid. That's when everything starts to fall into place and that takes awhile.
I have a dangerous woman inside of me and every now and again she's gotta come out.
I think the song that means the most to me is "Honeymoon Avenue", definitely, I love that song. It's, you know, about a personal experience with a boy. The Rascals, my good friends, rearranged it.
What Makes Her Different From Other Artists?
I don't know. I guess that's for you guys to determine. I just try and make music that makes me happy. That's what I'm most passionate about. I don't really like or pay attention to the celebrity part of it all. I only sort of care about the music.
Making Music In Spanish
My grandpa wants me to make an entire Spanish album and I was like : "Grandpa... I barely speak Spanish ...Let's slow down".
Her Problem With "Problem"
I was really unsure about it I kept going back and forth and back and forth listening to it. I loved it and I loved the idea of it. Then when I was done I kind of got scared of it. It was so different to me. It literally defies the normal structure of a song. The versus are chilled and the chorus is big, usually, but the verse is, (sings in a high pitched voice beautifully, of course), but the chorus is like a whisper. It's like the opposite of a normal song structure so it's weird. Then I heard it finished and mixed and I was like...Damn!...what was I thinking?
Social Media And Her Phone
I love going on social media everyday and, like, making this a part of my life. Before bed and when I wake up. Things like that and when I have free time. If I'm with people I really like to engage so I put my phone away.
