There are far more famous Alabamians than the ones on this list but, this list is a great selection of some of the more famous.

1. Nat King Cole: Cole was born in Montgomery, Alabama and he was a great Jazz Pianist and a Legendary Jazz singer. In my opinion, he had a very soothing, unique singing voice and he is known worldwide. Cole has made love songs and fast paced pop songs during his fabulous singing career. Nat King Cole had a very soothing voice and was very relaxing to listen to. He and his daughter sing several songs together even after his death. His voice is pulled from music he sang in the past and her voice is added. It is very pretty.

2. Hank Aaron: Aaron was born in Mobile, Alabama and he is one of the best baseball players to ever play the game. He played with great heart and full of passion and he was a fan favorite during his athletic prime. He was known for his love of the game. Hank Aaron was a people person. He was known to take time out to sign autographs. He was friends with most everyone. He just got along with everyone. He has a highway named after him. Aaron gets a lot of respect in Birmingham, Alabama where his baseball gear is still displayed at The Alabama Sports Hall of Fame.

3. Helen Keller: Keller was born in Tuscumbia, Alabama. She overcame her handicaps which was being deaf and blind. This did not stop Helen Keller from graduating and even got a college degree, she overcame boundaries that were presented to her that most people without any disabilities could accomplish. There were obstacles such as behavior problems while growing up. Anne Sullivan was patient and kind and taught Helen Keller.

4. Joe Louis: Louis was born in La Fayette, Alabama and he has the record for the most defenses of a boxing championship, with twenty five, and is considered one of the best fighters in boxing history.

5. Rosa Parks: Parks was born in Tuskegee, Alabama and was known as one of the most important Civil Rights Activist ever. She is known as the Mother of the Freedom Movement for Racial Equality. She was taking public transportation

6. Hank Williams: Williams was born in Mount Olive, Alabama and was a famous country singer and song writer who won a Grammy award for singing with his son.

7. Carl Lewis: Lewis was born in Birmingham, Alabama and he won 9 Gold Medals for Track in the Olympic games as well as 10 World Championships in Track and Field. He has a museum in his honor in Alabama.

8. Willie Mays: Mays was born in Westfield, Alabama and he was a World Series Baseball Champion and a 24x All Star. All of the older men remember watching Willie Mays play baseball.

9. Jimmy Buffett: Buffett was from Mobile, Alabama and he was a famous singer and song writer who has one many awards for his great music. Buffett is one of my favorites and he is great to hear while lounging on the beach.

10. Paul Bear Bryant: Bear Bryant was from Tuscaloosa, Alabama and he won 6 National Championships as the Head Coach of the college football team Alabama Crimson Tide.

11. Courteney Cox: Cox was born in Birmingham, Alabama and she is an actress, director and film producer known for starring in the sitcom Friends.

12. Charles Barkley: Barkley was born in Leeds, Alabama and he was a first round draft pick out of Auburn and he won an MVP in the NBA along with making eleven appearances in the All Star games.

13. Martin Luther King: King lived in Birmingham and Montgomery, Alabama and is the most famous leader of the movement for Peace and Civil Rights. He won the Nobel Peace Prize four years before he was assassinated.

14. Evander Holyfield: Holyfield was born in Atmore, Alabama and won a Bronze Medal in the Olympics, a Cruiserweight Crown and he was a 4 time Heavyweight Champion of the world.

15. Jim Nabors: Nabors was born in Sylacauga, Alabama and he was a famous singer and he starred in films and in sitcoms such as The Andy Griffith Show and Gomer Pyle.

16. Terrell Owens: Owens was born in Alexander City, Alabama and is a six time Pro Bowler in the NFL in football.

17. Wilson Pickett: Pickett was born in Prattville, Alabama and was a legendary R and B and Gospel singer.

Deontay Wilder of Tuscaloosa, Alabama won the Bronze Medal in the 2008 Olympics. He is currently 30-0 with 30 knockouts as a professional boxer and is trained by Mark Breland. He got a late start with prizefighting but he has came along way in a very short time.
