This hub is a collection of beautiful cake photos of some of the most impressive cakes I have seen. Some are made with a combination of fondant and buttercream, while some are completely made with buttercream, which is impressive as it is such a difficult medium to work with.

I hope you enjoy looking at these cakes and voting on your favorite one.

These cakes have been crafted by some of the best bakers and artists in world and range from Mario to shoes. I hope you enjoy looking through these impressive works of art.

If you have any photos or cakes to add, please paste a link in the comments section at the end of the page.

There are so many cake ideas out there. Recently, television stations have created shows based on cakes that challenge the bakers to make attractive and elaborate cakes. Some of these shows include The Next Great Baker, The Food Network Cake Challenge, Cake Boss, Ace of Cakes, The Ultimate Cake Off, and more. I also like Cupcake Wars, but that is a little less about making cakes that look like inedible objects.

There are more cakes below, so keep scrolling and be sure to come back up and vote on which was your favorite!

This may look like sushi, but I assure you, it's cake! This was made in a class at BGC.

I think my favorite cake displayed here, was the CHANEL cake. It gets your mind wondering...did this gal, get a job with Chanel as a designer:) Cute!

What an awesome hub! This totally made my day; I love cakes and the pictures were amazing! My favorite was the clock cake with exposed gears. Incredible! Voting up, interesting and beautiful!

I wanted to eat the burger cake almost immediately, but that clock cake is incredible. Voting this Up and Beautiful.

Thanks, everyone! NotSoPerfect and alocsin, I think the clock on is the most impressive. The colors and fondant work is unimaginable. Thank you all for taking a look and commenting. Have a great day!

Dear Brittany ~ I can't believe I haven't been following you! We've had conversations on the forum and I see you are a recent hubber. As for the cakes, YES! my daughter-in-law and I watch the television show THE GREAT CAKE OFF! which is totally amazing what they have to do. I don't feel as if the cakes above want to be cut and eaten. They feel very 'plastic' to me and not delectable. In art school and even in some high school art classes we had to create life objects out of clay and make them look real. Cakes like these have a similar feeling, I think because they actually exhibit the metallic or physical texture of the object. You know the eye can taste and perception is everything. My favorite was the "sushi" cake, but I'm sure they were all delicious --- unless they were made on cardboard as in A State Fair contest. Blessings, Debby

Debby, thank you so much for reading and commenting! I LOVE cake shows and cannot get enough. Next Great Baker and The Great Cake Off are my favorites. I totally agree that these cakes look plastic and not very appetizing, but I am just too impressed with the idea that they are totally edible! I love the sushi one too. That's what I voted for as the best. Thank you so much again for commenting. I can't wait to check out your hubs too as we seem to agree a lot in the forums. Mahalo. -Brittany

Brittany, What a delectable, inspirational, practical summary of cakes which don't look like cakes and which can be eaten! It's difficult to choose a favorite since even the simple burger shows that appearances can be deceiving. Finally, I chose the clock cake because it was just so unique and the gears so realistic. But I agree that the sushi is impressive and really makes one feel like eating it.

      Thank you for sharing, etc.,

That is an amazing photo of cakes. I like the one with the watchman (hoping it was the different character though). Thank you for sharing this.

Wowza - I can't pick just one cake to be the most impressive. I wish I could decorate cakes like the ones in this Hub...Im lucky if I can just ICE the dang thing :) But that doesn't stop my appreciation of all the pretty deliciousness. (I like the fairies the best)

That clock cake is crazy! Thanks for sharing. I personally love renditions of Marie Antoinette's wedding cake. In fact, I'm going to recreate it for my own wedding next July. Wish me luck! :)
