Amazing Pole Dancers

Updated on March 20, 2012

Pole dancing first appeared in the 1920s in America. Travelling show dancers used a tent pole as a prop in their acts. In the 1950s, pole dancing moved to bars and became popular in the strip clubs.

Later, it has been promoted as a legitimate form of dance and acrobatics.

Pole Dancing requires significant strength and flexibility.

From my own experience I can say that pole dancing is a brilliant exercise, very good for core muscles, better posture or confidence building. It's also a great fun!

I absolutely love watching great performances of professional dancers such as the ones below. They seem as light as butterflies and make it look so easy.

Beautiful and talented women with fascinating moves:

Jenyne Butterfly – Aerial Performance Artist and Champion Pole Dancer

Only 3 months after starting pole dancing, Jenyne won her first competition. Her titles include: Three time Champion of the largest prize-winning pole dance competition, Pole-a-Palooza, Miss Seamless and Princess on the Pole, US Pole Dance Champion and got silver at the 2009 World Finals.

Currently she owns a studio in Las Vegas where she teaches art forms including trapeze, hammock, hoop and pole.

Felix Cane – World Champion Pole Dancer and Pole Fitness Instructor

Born on December 9, 1984 in Australia. Only after 8 months after her first spin, Felix won her first title – Miss Pole Dance Australia 2006. She won the same competition in 2008 and 2011. Her other achievements include Miss Pole Dance World of 2009 and 2010.

At the moment she lives in Las Vegas and performs in the first ,,adult – themed’’ Cirque du Soleil’s show called Zumanity.

Together with Adam Jay Photography, Felix has released an iPhone application called Pocket Pole Studio that is a perfect accessory for Pole Instructors and Students.

Natasha Wang – Pole Performer and Instructor

A published poet and a graduate of the University of Texas at Austin with a BS in Advertising and a BA in French.

She began pole dancing at the age of 29 with no previous dance or gymnastics experience. When she started, Natasha trained several hours every day and it was worth it.

She currently holds the titles of US Pole Dance Champion 2011, USPDF West Coast Champion 2010, California Pole Dance Champion 2010, and East Meets West Miss Pole – AM 2010.

At the moment she works as an instructor at Los Angeles' The Choreography House and Be Spun and is a principal dancer with Kelly Yvonne’s Girl Next Door show.

Pantera Blacksmith – Professional Pole Instructor and Feature Performer

Known as the World’s Most Famous Pole Dancer, she began her career in 1999.

She holds many titles including National Pole Antics Champion 2003 and Oregon’s Best Tattooed Dancer 2003. She competed and judge events in Europe, Australia, Japan, Central America and the Caribbean.

In 2003, Pantera starred in the first advanced instructional pole DVD, Pole Tricks 101.

Nowadays, she teaches the art of Pole Dancing to her passionate students. She also offers lessons online.
