American Idol 11 (2012) Top 24 Contestants (First Live Performance Round)

Updated on January 24, 2012

The American Idol 11 season will progress to a Top 24. The judges and producers pick all of the contestants up to that point. Assuming no changes are made until that round airs, the Top 24 will then sing in one round to advance to the Top 12.

The top 5 girls and top 5 boys automatically advance to the Top 12, which is a single-elimination round that eliminates one contestant each week until we have an American Idol 2012 winner. However, if it done as expected, the judges/producers will pick wildcards among the Top 24 that did not make it through. Those wildcards sing one song. Then, the judges are expected to pick 2 or 3 contestants as wildcards to advance to the Top 12. Last year, they actually picked 3 to make a Top 13. This also means that at least one week of the Top 12 might eliminate two people instead of one.

TheIdolPad spoiler website says it has discovered most of the Top 24. I am publishing that here. We will then see how many were correct when the actual contestants are chosen for this round:

  • Baylie Brown
  • Brielle von Hugel
  • Chelsea Sorrell
  • Elise Testone
  • Erika Van Pelt
  • Haley Johnsen
  • Hallie Day
  • Hollie Cavanagh
  • Jen Hirsh
  • Jessica Sanchez
  • Shannon Magrane
  • Skylar Laine
  • Aaron Marcellus (Sanders)
  • Adam Brock
  • Colton Dixon
  • Creighton Fraker
  • Heejun Han
  • DeAndre Brackensick
  • Eben Franckewitz
  • Jeremy Rosado
  • Joshua Ledet
  • Phillip Phillips
  • Reed Grimm

There is only 1 boy missing from the spoiler list, and all 12 girls are listed above the boys in the above list. If this list is accurate, I would suspect Jessica Sanchez, Elise Testone, Shannon Magrane and Skylar Laine to be the only ones with a decent chance of winning among the girls. That does not mean they will all advance to the Top 12, though. There is a lot of luck involved in getting past that first live voting round. Among the boys, it is still hard to say because we haven't seen a lot of those contestants yet. Of the ones shown, I would predict that Phillip Phillips would have the best chance of upsetting all the girls. Colton Dixon could be a strong favorite, as well. Others such as DeAndre, Aaron, Reed and Creighton are definitely talented but do not fit the bill in terms of personality or genre for winning American Idol 11.

Scott Dangerfield was among the list of boys on the top 42... If he is not one of the final 12 boy I would be shocked. If you don't remember him from last year.. look him up. He made it to Hollywood last year, but then left the show due to teaching obligations during Hollywood Week.
