American Idols Live Tour - 2009
Idol Favorites Go on Tour
As expected given past seasons of American Idol, your Top Ten favorite idols will be hitting the road for a 2009 summer tour. The tour kicks off at the Rose Garden in Portland, Oregon on July 5 and snakes across the U.S. until they end up in the northeastern state of New Hampshire. They will be making stops in 50 cities across the U.S. Given the amazing performances in the finale show and the breadth of talent in this group of American Idols, you can be sure to expect a great show. This year's Top Ten consist of Adam Lambert, Allison Iraheta, Anoop Desai, Danny Gokey, Kris Allen, Lil Rounds, Matt Giraud, Megan Joy, Michael Sarver, and Scott MacIntyre.
American Idol Highlights
In honor of these season's Top Ten, I'd like to flashback to some of the performances that were in my opinion highlights of the season - a Kara DioGuardi would call it... a demonstration of true "artistry".
First I'll start off with the song that saved Kris Allen's life on American Idol. He delivered a breathtaking performance, putting a unique twist on a current song with his acoustic rendition of "Heartless." Unfortunately YouTube doesn't offer video of the performances, only audio - so close your eyes and pretend that you're watching it with your eyes closed. :)
What would a highlight reel be without an Adam Lambert performance. His unique styling during every single performance, it's hard to choose just one. Of all the songs he sung, I think the one that stands out the most is his rendition of "Mad World." It wasn't over the top - it showed a reserved Adam stripped down and vulnerable on stage. This is the performance that revealed the star like qualities that he possesses. This clip is from the show's finale which was equally as moving as the first time he performed it on stage. He masterfully chose the correct phrasing to build tension and draw every single person into it. If you don't feel this performance, you're not human.
One more outstanding artist that I'd like to highlight and will be present on the American Idols Live Tour in 2009, and that is Danny Gokey. From the very beginning he captured the heart of millions of Americans with his heartfelt story in losing his wife. The song that he sang on American Idol that best captured the emotion that he let come through in all of his performances is Rascal Flatt's, "What Hurts The Most." This performance touched the hearts of all that heard it. The full studio version of the song is presented for your listening pleasure.
