American idol Top 9 results shocker

Updated on April 11, 2011

This year there was a change for the better on American Idol. Stephen Tyler and Jenifer Lopez added as judges made things colorful and lively. Randy Jackson turned into the harsh Judge. Not to mention, the talent has been off the hook.

The first season of American Idol really garbed our attention. Each year I found myself watching less and less. Until the only parts that held my interest were the very beginning (because of the auditions), and the very end where the 2 finalists competed. Last year I was so uninterested I never watched a single episode.

When I heard rumors that Stephen Tyler was going to be a judge, I felt a huge spark of excitement. I have loved Aerosmith ever since I was a young teen. And I knew that he would breath new life and flavor into a show that had grown stale.

J-Lo was a nice surprise as well. Tho I am not really a fan of her music, I think she is a strong, hard working and talented woman. This is just what American Idol needed from their "woman's view" judge.

I was not disappointed at all. This 10th season of American Idol I think is the best season yet. Each show leaves you wanting more. I am positive if they keep the all the judges next season it will only get better.

With that being said tonight's show was a bit of a shocker to most. By the end of the show I knew there would be outrage all over the net. And when I read Lyndsey Parker's Yahoo article "Top 9 'Idol' Results: Another Girl Hits Rock Bottom" I was not at all surprised. I have been following Parker's Music blog about Idol ever since the night that Casey got the judge's save. Honestly, I don't know why I keep going back for more. She shares the very shallow view of an American teen. And her blogs are mostly fluff and banter. She can't see true talent. And it seems she thinks Stephen Tyler was a poor choice for a judge. Well, there is no accounting for taste with some people.

Before I saw tonight's show, I was almost positive that both Pia and Stefano would be in the bottom 3. Jacob being in the bottom three seemed to come from left field. However I knew in my heart that Jacob was not going home. I thought for sure Stefano was off. And, sorry Stefano, but I was glad for it. Before they announced who was going home I knew I would not be upset at all if Pia went home either. I was only slightly taken a back when they announced Pia, the Idol going home. I knew immediately before the reaction grew that everyone was going to be in a furry.

Yes she's beautiful. Yes she can really belt those notes out. But has that ever been enough to make it to the very top of American Idol? The answer you are looking for is YES! Oh no... no I must be reversing what I wanted to say again. The correct answer is No. It's never been just enough to be beautiful and talented. She is so Milquetoast, I was begging for people to stop "talking her up" about 3 competitions back. And frankly I am in awe that the judges were so broken up about it. They are professionals. And they have given her advice week after week that she has yet to take. Yes she finally did a up tempo song, but she doesn't know how to perform and she lacks the depth and personality that the other finalists have. So if you look at it from a rational standpoint it makes total sense.

I do believe that Pia will have an amazing career. She will get a manager and some trainers. And emerge as a full fledged star.

Many of you can't believe that Pia got voted off so early. I believe that many of the Idol fans that would usually vote for her are teen girls. Teen girls are very fickle. I think there votes flopped to the men that are on the show. Particularly Scotty. And even tho I don't want Scotty to win, I think he has a good shot for several reasons. Some of them being that he is country, he sounds like a professional and he is appealing to young woman.

Now back to Stefano. I have been wanting him to be off the show for weeks now. I am sorry to all you Stefano fans. In my humble opinion, he is a bit boring. He has problems putting advice from anyone into action. When he does, it is added bit by little bit. If this gets back to you somehow, Stefano, My advice would be to mix it up, take some huge risks and show some large personality. If you don't you may be off next.

As for my favorites James and Hailey are at the top with personality, larger then life stage presence, and talent to back it up. Now THAT is what American Idol is about. And by the way, the others follow very close behind. A couple of performances could change my mind and America's easily.

Thank you for commenting VioletSun and jpcmc.

jpcmc you brought something up that I meant to add into this hub. And that is every show this season makes you want more. I truly cannot wait for the next show to air every time the show ends. That is a sign of good TV.

      Thank you both again! :)

Pia was one of my favs in the show. But yes, she lacked the spark that James (love the voice, love the performances) and the rest have. Perhaps I was hoping that she breaks free from the ballads and add some flare to her performance. Though her last song was up tempo, she still seemed awkward.

Steven Tyler is a great performer but I was expecting more valuable criticism from him other than "that's beautiful" or some funny one-liners. However, J-lo and Randy are doing great when it comes to the technical aspect of singing and performing. At first it felt weird not hearing Simon's tactless and sarcastic remarks but eventually I got over it.

Can't wait for next week's show.

I admit I am a latecomer to American Idol, hardly watched it until a hubber friend starting commentaries about the show. I am glad I am watching it, as the talent is awesome! I have become a fan of Steve Tyler, what a cool, talented man. :)

      Voted up!

Good Hub, and I agree with you re: Pia. If she could've upped her "stage presence," I think she might have been okay. Walking around isn't very exciting, from an entertainment standpoint, even if the voice is a killer one. Voted this Hub up. :)
