Angels of Mercy: The Hottest Nurses in Film and Television

Updated on December 17, 2012

i don't know what it is about nurses, but there is definitely something. Something that makes them cute and pretty, beautiful and gorgeous... yes, hot and sexy. Maybe it is the uniform or those cute little hats some of them wear. Or maybe it is those sexy scrubs with cartoon characters and on sexy pastel shades. No, I think it is something deeper than that. It is something about their noble profession that simply says "I care."

Nurse Samantha Taggart

Samantha "Sam" Taggart, portrayed by actress Linda Cardellini, joined the popular show ER in its tenth season. The nurse and single mom became one of the show's most popular characters. Her no-nonsense style, not to mention her willingness to throw an occasional punch when needed, won her the love and admiration of fans as she took over as head nurse when the previous nurse in that position decided to become a doctor.

Nurse Colleen McMurphy

On China Beach we got to see Lieutenant Colleen McMurphy get a well-deserved promotion to Captain while she dispensed courage and kindness along with medication and health care. No question she was the star of this show. Based on a number of Vietnam era nurses, Lt. McMurphy tended the wounded at the 510th Evac Hospital. Though her uniform was army issue, this hot nurse could not help be smoking when portrayed by the lovely Dana Delaney.

Major Margaret "Hot Lips" Houlihan

Major Margaret J. "Hot Lips" Houlihan was portrayed on the M*A*S*H* television show by Loretta Swit and she came off at times as a bit of a... well, let's just call her a meanie. But she never minded using her sex appeal to get the results she wanted. Or maybe she just could not help being sexy. Either way, she was another nurse who proved it is more than just the uniform that makes a nurse desirable.

"Nurse" Betty Sizemore

In fairness, I should say Nurse Betty is not actually a nurse. She just played one on TV. Well, actually she only thought she played one on TV. And, of course, this all happened in the big screen movie Nurse Betty, not on TV. Confused yet? Don't worry about it and concentrate on how cute Renée Zellweger is in her nurse's uniform. I think I feel a fever coming on!

Dr. Elliot Reid

Dr. Elliot Reid may not be a nurse, but if this is the doctor I'll pass on the apple-a-day! Played on Scrubs by the too-gorgeous-for-words Sarah Chalke, Dr. Reid always looks hot in her doctor duds. This physically fit physician is guaranteed to raise your blood pressure anytime she walks into the room. Whether in her white doctor's outfit or in her sexy scrubs, Elliot Reid is one magnificent medical professional!

Nurse Christine Chapel

The original Star Trek series showed us that even when man reaches that final frontier, there will be angels of mercy to help us along the way. Nurse Christine Chapel was portrayed by Majel Barrett, wife of Star Trek creator Gene Roddenberry. Nurse Chapel had a thing for Mr. Spock but crazy half-Vulcan never returned the feelings. If there was ever proof that Spock was more unemotional Vulcan than a feeling, caring human, this had to be it!

Nurse Lt. Evelyn Johnson

Even in the turmoil of the attack on Pearl Harbor, there were beautiful nurses doing whatever they could to help our brave soldiers and sailors who were bombarded by the Japanese on December 7, 1941. Kate Beckinsale's portrayal of Nurse Johnson in the film Pearl Harbor was nothing short of amazing as she brought warmth, compassion and, of course, sexy hotness, to her character.

Nurse Gloria Brancusi

On Trapper John, MD, Nurse Gloria "Ripples" Mancusi was definitely the hottest nurse on staff. Single but looking, Ripples Mancusi eventually adopted a child but inexplicably never ended up getting a man. Well, hey... who ever said television shows had to be realistic, right?

Nurse Chloe Payne

Let's face it, from the day she was born, Michelle Trachtenberg has been a heavenly creature so it should come as no surprise that she would be cast as an angel of mercy. With big, beautiful eyes and luscious, kissable lips, she has undoubtedly been the dream girl of many young men. But when she put on the scrubs and became Nurse Chloe Payne, her hotness simply blew the top off the thermometer! You can bet this sexy nurse started more than a few pulses racing!

The Real Chloe Payne

This is the real Chloe Payne. She is not a nurse. She is actually a Toronto based actress, singer, and clown among other things. Other things, of course, including being a major hottie. She doesn't really belong in this hub, but since I stumbled across her while looking for the picture for the above section on Nurse Chloe Payne, I felt it would be selfish not to share.

Kayden Kross in a Sexy Nurse Outfit

And because it seems only fair that a sexy nurse hub end with a sexy nurse, here is one last photo before you go. Now run along and stay safe. You wouldn't want to end up in the hospital, now... would you?

Please share your feelings about nurses with the group...

Fun Hub to Read SpiderBytes, and brings back Memories of some of these wonderful Shows. One of the Best played TV Nurses was Loretta Swit on "Mash". I have a niece who is studying to be a Nurse and I think she'll be a good one. I look forward to Following your Hubs, hope you will follow mine as well.
