About Boku no Hero Academia

Boku no Hero Academia (translate: My Hero Academia) tells the valiant story of Midoriya Izuku. Ever since he was young, he dreamt of being a hero. With All Might and his life-saving deeds as his idol and examples, respectively, Midoriya strives to reach his goals even though he has one very unfortunate peculiarity—he has no quirk! A quirk is kind of power and it defines a hero! Without a quirk, Midoriya can’t become what he wants to be. But is it all that defines a REAL dignified and powerful superhero? Moving forward, he stumbles upon the destined moment of his life—his fateful meeting with his idol, All Might!

This is what you could call a Superhero Anime. It’s a fairly new and rising genre and this show might just be one of the pioneers and even one of the most successful ones. This show has the makings of a very popular mainstream anime, and it might even evolve based on its style and infamy, in time. As such, it’s no wonder that it’s actually already getting a big deal of attention and fame.

Many loves this show already, and so, it’s about time to share some similar shows and series. That’s what this is about after all! So here they are, blazing at a quirky superhero speed—the Anime like Boku no Hero Academia!

Mother of all superheroes! If you’re looking for anime similar to Boku no Hero no Academia, then you don’t have to look any further. The caped baldy, err, Saitama is punching his way squarely towards this page. It’s a one-hit KO from the One Punch Man!

Bald and unimpressive as he may look like, Saitama is doing his stuff for fun! He beats baddies for fun and vanquishes them as if they were nothing. The secret to his strength? 100 Push-Ups, 100 Sit-Ups, 100 Squats, and a 10-Kilometer Run every single day! He did this for three years non-stop and the result was—unparalleled strength capable of defeating any adversary with a one-hit KO punch and…loss of hair!

He’s the caped baldy. He’s a hero for fun…and a bit of profit. He’s the—One Punch Man!

Tiger and Bunny? That’s such a cutesy name! Mechas? Nope! SUPERHEROES! Not cutesy, not mecha, not something you would expect! Tiger and Bunny is the anime you should watch if you’re into straightforward superhero shows!

People called “Next” live in Sternbild City—the city of anti-villains! What’s a good guy gotta do? Beat up baddies and obliterate villains! With this set-up though, each noble deed earns goodie points and documentation by a special TV channel.

Tiger is one such veteran who works in solitude. But when fate moves its hand, he gets paired up with rookie, Barnaby Brooks Jr.—a newbie who has different perspectives and beliefs than him. Will the two get along? Will they be able to save the day?

The literal definition of “pirate” doesn’t actually entail being helpful, merry, and friendly but, the Straw Hat pirate crew is different! Captain Luffy and his crewmates are one-of-a-kind! They are pirates, but depending on perspective, they can actually be considered the heroes of the sea.

Monkey D. Luffy has a gigantic dream. It’s to become the king of pirates! Not an easy feat but definitely achievable! But first, he must form his ultimate crew and tread the dangerous sea as if it were nothing! After all that, the adventure kicks off to a tidal wave of action and humor. Grand Line is the target destination, One Piece is the final treasure, and being the Pirate King is the ultimate goal!

“Naruto” follows the epic ninja tales of a boy named Naruto. Since birth, the chakra of the nine-tailed demon fox was sealed inside of him. This caused him a lot of troubles because the demon fox was a brutal nightmare for most of the people of the Hidden Leaf Village. Naruto grew up alone and alienated, and so, he’s determined to prove himself worthy by being the light of the village—the Hokage!

It’s a long and bumpy road for Naruto. The ninja road is laden with difficult trials and challenging tribulations. Will he be able to carve his own destiny and birth his own way of ninja? Just as Naruto always says: Believe it! This is the legendary story of the gutsy ninja, Naruto!

Superhumans, you say? There’s a big collection of them in Concrete Revolutio! Witches, magicians, aliens, ancient beings, supernatural entities, name it! They’re all packed in this show as tightly packed as can be!

The story of Concrete Revolutio follows the journey of Jirou Hitoyoshi. He’s a member of the superhuman bureau, a bureau that oversees superhumans of all sorts and tries to keep them all at bay from the shadows. One day, Jirou quits and rebels against the very organization he dedicated his life for. What is the meaning of all this? What are his motives? What is the real truth behind the Superhuman Bureau?

6. Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann

As if it wasn’t noble enough to bring humanity back to its former glory, what awaits is an epic adventure that transcends the edges of the universe! That’s right, Tengen Toppa Gurren Lagann is all about EPICNESS and AWESOMENESS!

Who’s the greatest teacher of all? That would be--Koro-sensei! He’s an octopus-like yellow creature who’s destructive and a threat to the whole world, and also, a teacher like no other!

A destructive octopus-like creature just destroyed a big chunk of the moon, and now, he’s threatening humanity that he’ll destroy earth as well in a year! Before he does so though, there’s a chance of salvation. He will teach a certain classroom just like a normal teacher would, and also, impart assassination studies to his students to assassinate…who else…him! That is—if they successfully do so before they all graduate! If the students succeed, it’s humanity’s win. If they fail their studies and the assassination, then it’s goodbye earth!

8. Nanatsu no Taizai (The Seven Deadly Sins)

From the continent’s worst criminals to the world’s saviors? Something is definitely whack! But then, it’s the “Seven Deadly Sins” we’re talking about! Meliodas, King, Diane, Ban, Merlin, Gowther, and Escanor—the Seven Deadly Sins are here to save the day!

Something’s wrong with the Kingdom of Liones! The very swords and shields of the kingdom, the Holy Knights, are revolting and doing evil deeds everywhere they go! And so, Princess Elizabeth takes matters into her own hands. She goes on an adventure to look for the kingdom’s most dangerous and brutal criminals! They are the Seven Deadly Sins and they’re truly as powerful as they’re rumored out to be but not as wicked as tittle-tattles suggest. Who could they really be? Can they really save the kingdom?

9. Katekyo Hitman Reborn!

So why’d I put this here? Simple! Katekyo Hitman Reborn’s main protagonist, Tsunayoshi Sawada, is a lot like Boku no Hero Academia’s main protagonist, Midoriya Izuku. Both of them are seemingly weak, zero-to-hero kindred spirits, and very ordinary and unlikely to achieve stuff. But then, they’re also both determined, full of battle spirit, and big-hearted!

Katekyo Hitman Reborn follows the mundane life of Tsunayoshi Sawada. He’s weak, timid, and can’t even admit his love for his ultimate crush. He’s actually treated as a loser by many. But, as destiny sets its course, Reborn comes to mentor Tsuna and bring out the beast in him. Turns out, Tsuna is the fated future boss of the Vongola Mafia family! So from his weak, old self, he trains to become a leader of a group-oriented mafia family like no other.

10. Kill la Kill

So I heard you like intense and exaggerated stuff? Yeah, the things you’d usually find in superhero stories. Well, here’s Kill la Kill and the setting, story, and style is but the same but more intense and fiery!

Ryuuko Matoi is on the hunt for her father’s murderer! The only clue she has is the scissor-shape blade she now possess. This then leads her to Honnouji Academy, the academy that is ruled by the ruthless student council president, Satsuki Kiryuuin! Satsuki and the elite four are all tenacious and brutal, but this won’t stop Ryuuko! She feels like Satsuki has the answers she seeks and those answers are exactly what she’s going to get no matter what!
