Wield your triggers and unleash the Border Agent in you with the Anime like World Trigger!

For an anime that’s not yet quite well-known and popularized, I’d say World Trigger is currently so underrated and not deserving of its number of audience! Why? That’s because this show caters a sizable amount of potential at par with all the other main-streams Japanese Animations. Actually, I do believe it’s on a level so high you’d be dropping your jaw in no time at all.

So, I guess you being here already knows of the spectacularity and awesomeness of the show that is WT! As such, I’m here to recommend some Anime like World Trigger to entitle you to join into the action and hype. Trust me, you’d never regret knowing these titles especially if you really got ecstatic about WT.

Now, after everything’s said and done, browse though the various anime similar to World Trigger and get caught up in the typhoon of action and exhilaration!

Plot Summary of World Trigger:

Mikado City - a city where a mysterious portal opened-up in the past to unleash destructive invaders known as neighbors is the catalyst of change for a new world system. During the invasion, no one from the world was able to stop the neighbors until help from a mysterious organization called “Border” came. From then on, Mikado City stood with the Border as its foundation, constantly learning of the technology known as “triggers” and fending-off troublesome neighbors.

A few years later, a mysterious boy named Kuga Yuma shows up with goals quite unclear. Then, that same boy meets Osamu Mikumo, a Border trainee who happens to be his classmate and so to be a comrade in combat at the authority of Border.

1. Gate: Jieitai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri

Just look at that! It’s the word - Gate! And by that, you’d know that there’s some kind of gate here connecting to some unusual dimension. And you know what? You’re right! Gate: Jietai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri surely is a show with a mysterious dimensional gate connecting the world with another world that is full of things you wouldn’t believe exists!

After just vividly expressing the major scope of “Gate”, I don’t think you’ll need further explanation. World trigger pulls the triggers with the whole “neighbourhood” concept while Gate does it with...what else...the gate to the other world. Both worlds in both shows try to defend their homeland from the incoming attacks coming from the foreign enemy, and as the stories progress - the home worlds launches their own counterattacks by stepping into the worlds initially unknown to them.

Okay, I’ll stop there! I’ve said enough so I’ll leave it at - ‘nuff said! Come watch Gate: Jietai Kanochi nite, Kaku Tatakaeri and you’ll never regret you did!

2. Nobunagun

Did I just hear bad-ass weaponry based on historical figures and alien beings coming to invade? Oh, count me in! Not only does that sound extremely bad-ass but also, that sounds that super-action’s coming as well! That just says much about Nobunagun right?

Now for the mix-matching scenario - Nobunagun has weapons born from the enemy themselves. Yes, the enemy! That’s Trigger-Neighbor scenario all over again (but now with the Evolutionary Invasion Objects as the enemies). Second, the out-of-this-world enemies - I’ve already explained this a sentence back so that’s it. Now lastly, the undying will to fend off the invaders and protect humanity - this is basically what Nobunagun and WT is all about so ‘nuff said!

3. Bleach

Bankaii!!! Don’t mind me - I really just wanted to release that! Now on to the matter at hand, Bleach is another show that’s gigantic in action and colossal in combat. Fight and battles are the meals for each day and the story progression is what’s tying everything together. What’s great about Bleach is the variety! Weapons, powers, skills - these combat elements are widely varied that getting to know each and every one of them is what’s keeping the spectators hooked!

Now, going to the similarities Bleach has with World Trigger - the array of worlds is highly evident! It’s the Soul Society and the multiple spirit worlds with the former and the Neighborhood and its various independent countries with the latter. The aforementioned worlds and countries are in conflict with the human world and the humans must fight back to survive and prevent the foreign enemies from oppressing them.

That being said, the similarities should now be quite evident. Add the similar themes and genres to that and the major elements of surprise and action - we’ve got two anime that are on par with one another!

4. Kekkaishi

Barriers and demons?! Sounds like a crazy hell-wrecking combination! But, just as the demons from the other realm try to enter and dominate the grounds of Karasumori High School, the Kekkaishi knows materializes the barriers with no notions of rest!

With the demons trying to wreck havoc and everything, the Kekkaishi uses their “Kekkai” or Barrier powers to prevent and stop them from going-on with their evil plans. Now, that just sounds like the “Neighbors” and “Triggers” from World Trigger! Kekkaishi has demons and barriers while WT has neighbors and triggers. And that just sounds about right!

Kekkaishi is one of a hell of a decent action and drama show as well. Besides those, the supernatural genre is one of its major points too. So, with that combination in place, Kekkaishi is a worthy to go side-by-side with WT.

5. Kekkai Sensen (Blood Blockade Battlefront)

A breach opens up in New York and monstrous creatures pour in - doesn’t that sound all too familiar? Well, adding-on to that, New York is engulfed by an impenetrable bubble and the humans are forced to co-exist with the creatures! That’s Kekkai Sensen a.k.a Blood Blockade Battlefront for you!

As if being breached is not enough, being trapped with weird creatures is way too much! But, that’s not the case with Kekkai Sensen as the denizens of New York adjusts fast to what mysterious scenario is happening around them. The results are expected though - anarchy and chaos! It’s a good thing everyone has adapted quite well.

Now, for the gist of it - I would the only difference with this and World Trigger is that there’s no real seriousness with Kekkai Sensen. Everything is just plain wacky and crazy! But, that doesn’t make it less than the other....because Kekkai Sensen is actually a gem that’s so unusual and unique that it’ll charm you into submission in its own wild ways.

Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)

6. Shingeki no Kyojin (Attack on Titan)

There might be no otherworldly dimensional portals here in Shingeki no Kyojin but, there are - TITANS! And I say that’s enough! Include a gigantic wall protecting the cities and humanity and you’ve got a show cunningly similar in resemblance.

First and foremost, the enemies here are out to unleash their brutality against humanity. Yes that’s right, those are the titans. Second, there’s a big wall protecting everyone! For the similarity, I’d say the wall and even the titan-slaying military squads resemble the Border and its agents from World Trigger quite much! And lastly, the overwhelming degree of action! Need I say more?

Date A Live

7. Date A Live

Okay, okay...the genre of Date A Live is very different from World Trigger with the former being a harem-romance-comedy and the latter being an action-supernatural but hey - as soon both stories of both shows unfold, you’d never fail to see what’s the same and alike.

Just as we know of WT, Date A Live has other-dimension elements such as creatures that brings devastating time-space quakes with them. Then, the mystical creatures of Date A Live are called Spirits, which very much are identical to humans, much as how real Neighbors are from WT.

So that being said, both are unusually recognizable with the same level of essence. As I’ve said, only the genres are different. But as you watch them, you’d find that they’re both action-packed and enjoyable!
