Updated on August 19, 2015

Arnold Schwarzenegger is one of the greatest action stars of our time alongside the likes of Sly Stallone, Bruce Willis, Jackie Chan, Tom Cruise, and others. Arnold took on the iconic role of the Terminator in the first three films in the Terminator series, he was in a lead role in Predator, and was the star in many, many other action films throughout 80's, 90's, and 00's. In 2003 he stepped down from acting and was elected as Governor of California, and served as Governor (The Governator) until 2011. In 2012 Arnold made his return to film with a minor, but memorable, role in The Expendables 2, and set 2013 as the year he made the full leap back onto the big screen. The Last Stand which released January 18th 2013, marked his first leading role since 2003. Since then he has starred in a flurry of action films including Sabotage, by David Ayer, and The Expendables 3. He most recently reprised his role as the Terminator in the 2015 film Terminator: Genisys.

Arnold broke into the film industry with the 1969 film Hercules in New York, but he didn't make a splash on the film scene until his 1982 role in Conan the Barbarian. He has starred in a total of 43 films, with at least two more releasing this year. His films have grossed a domestic total of $1.7 billion, and a worldwide total of $3.8 billion.

Below is a list of Arnold Schwarzenegger's highest rated films in his career so far. The left side of the chart shows his best scored movies on Rotten Tomatoes. On the right side the chart show his best user scored movies from Metacritic.

As one can clearly see his role as the Terminator, in Terminator 2, is his most beloved, and fan favorite role. This is thanks in part to the fantastic direction by director James Cameron. A return to the iconic role of the Terminator, something fans have eagerly been waiting for, happened his past summer when he reprised his role in Terminator: Genisys.

Terminator 2: Judgement Day lies at the top of this list, as well as being his number two film by critic score, and his top film among viewers. While his return as the iconic Terminator was highly anticipated, Terminator: Genisys failed to make a mark at the domestic box office.

Yeah, he's great. It's a shame that The Last Stand didn't do so well at the box office.

@tonyx35 Good Point. Terminator 2 was easily superior.

@Miller I wouldn't consider the remake to be crappy. I found it quiet entertaining. Farrell does a pretty decent job.

I knew the remake of Total Recall would be crappy from seeing the trailer and that in no way could Colin Farrell ever pull off what Schwarzenegger. Its hard to visualize him being insane like Arnold did in the 1990 version.

I think Arnold's reaction was this to the remake: "You Blew My Movie!"

@Richard Perazzo: Terminator lacked "Hasta la vista, baby" and (Robert Patrick) the Liquid metal terminator.

@tony Yeah, I was quite surprised by the success of Twins as well. What also surprised me was how The Terminator wasn't one of his highest grossing movies . I thought that made much more money in theaters then it did.

@Miller I loved Arnold in Total Recall. The Total Recall remake isn't half bad either. Just finished watching it about an hour ago. Would have been nice if they got Arnold to cameo in it.

I loved Schwarzenegger in Total Recall because when he gets crazy, he gets really crazy. Favorite liner that showed how insane he could be when he says "You Blew My Cover!", still funny to me and I have the DVD for that move (Total Recall).

I'm really surprised that Twins was so commercially successful. The only 90s Arnold movies I ever rewatch are T2 and True Lies.

I think I'll wait for The Last Stand to come out on home video/Digital Download before watching it.
