Greatest guitar solos of all time-"best songs that ruled the hearts of millions"
Guitar Solos that rocked my music world
If someone asks you to pick one of your all time favorite songs from the songs which you listened and loved over the years, I know how difficult it becomes for any music lover. The same situation I came across when one of our dear Hubber asked this question to me.
In this hub I’m covering only one genre of the songs i.e. best guitar solos. Though it is very difficult to select only 10 best guitar solos of all time as there are plenty of them, here i’ll try to make my list to a short and simple one.
Here’s my list of all time favorite guitar solos which ruled my music world.
1) Freebird - Allen Collins (Lynyrd Skynyrd)
(Album - Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd)
This song is from Lynyrd Skynyrd’s debut album called Pronounced Leh-nerd Skin-nerd. Band members knew that people would find it hard to pronounce their name ,hence they came up with the idea of this type of name to their first music album.
Not only the guitar part but also the lyrics of this song are so beautiful that I again and again like to listen to it. This song would definitely be in the list of all hard rock fans.
2) Sweet Child O Mine By Slash (Guns N' Roses)
(Album - Appetite For Destruction)
Another greatest guitar solo which is also from a debut album of one of my favorite band of all time Guns N Roses. Guitar riffs played by Slash with a beautiful vocals of Axl Rose makes this song so special that it is performed by many artistes as a cover song/intro song in their live performances. This song became so popular after its release in 1988 that won best single, hard rock at the 1989 american music awards.
3) Sultan of Swing by Mark Knopfler (Dire Straits)
(Album Dire Straits)
One of the greatest guitarist of all time Mark Knopfler gave all music fans one of the best melodic song when he composed this beautiful song. It was from his band’s (Dire Straits) debut album called Dire Straits which was released on 1978. This song still rules the heart of many die heart rock fans.
4) Hotel California by Don Felder/Joe Walsh (Eagles)
(Album Hotel California)
This grammy award winning song is so much popular that every amateur band from japan to south america dream to play it perfectly without any mistake. After it released in 1976 it became huge hit that the “Hotel California” became synonym with Eagles. I like live version of this song from their live album “HELL FREEZES OVER” much better than its original studio release.
5) Child In Time - Ritchie Blackmore (Deep Purple)
(Album- Deep Purple in rock)
Deep Purple who has given us many kick-ass songs like Highway Star, Soldier of fortune, black night etc wrote and composed this beautiful song as a protest against Vietnam War. When you listen to the beautiful lyrics and guitar riffs, it will take you to another world and will make you think whatever is happening in this world in the name of establishing supremacy of one country is justified or not?
6) Stairway To Heaven - Jimmy Page (Led Zeppelin)
(Album – Led Zeppelin IV)
Beautiful lyrics of Robert Plant and amazing guitar created magic when they composed “Stairway to Heaven” which still today holds the record of highest number of times played song by radio stations. Due to its huge popularity it was voted as number #3 greatest rock songs of all time by VH1.
7) Comfortably Numb - David Gilmour (Pink Floyd)
(Album – The Wall)
Though there are many hits of Pink Floyd which are huge hits, this still remains one of all time favorite song of mine mainly because of its guitar riffs played by David Gilmour and melodic voice of Roger Waters.
8) Voodoo Child (slight return) - Jimi Hendrix
(Album: Electric Ladyland)
This song was released in UK in 1970 after the unfortunate death of legendary guitarist Jimi Hendrix who inspired many to play guitar. The song went on to become no # 1 UK hit.
9) Surfing with the alien - Joe Satriani
(Album - Surfing with the alien)
Surfing with the alien song from the GOD OF GUITAR Joe Satriani himself holds special place in my list. This song established Joe as a highly regarded rock guitarist of all time.
1) Please note that all the songs mentioned in this hub are my personal favorite songs and these are by no means the only greatest songs of all time.
