Oakvale: Bastards of Dogtown

Updated on March 3, 2012

This song I am very proud of because the lyrics ended up becoming quite "message-y?" Either way, I was impressed with myself for coming up with something as intense as this one and as the title suggests it's a raucous, powerful song.

(Intro)
Hey you, what are you looking at?
You got something to say?
Well you better spit it out, I ain't got all day

(Intro Cont'd)
Look at all those eyes
They're gonna get me someday
(x4)
Get me!
Get me!
Get me!

(1st Verse)
It has begun, our arrival was immanent
Sick of us around well you'll just have to deal with it
Coming at you live from behind the veil
Where those abandoned become like hell
Our day is just beginning as yours comes to a close
Don't try to fight it, cause you'll be the one to lose
Shut your lip, it'll be over quick, and we'll soon be on our way

(Chorus)
Causing a commotion with their insane locomotive,
propagating, instigating trend, towards a suffocating end
Non-productive, reproduction of a condescending generation
You ask why? Cause we're the Bastards of Dogtown

(2nd Verse)
Rabble rousing of a brotherhood, a mess of kids up to no good
They'll get what's coming to them one way or the other
It's just a matter of time before they fall under, so get away
Get away, get away, get away!

(Chorus)
Causing a commotion with their insane locomotive,
propagating, instigating trend, towards a suffocating end
Non-productive, reproduction of a condescending generation
You ask why? Cause we're the Bastards of Dogtown

I'm ready for a fight!

Rebellion!

This is by far one of our heaviest songs. I'd classify our music as progressive hard rock but nowadays it's hard to determine what that could even mean. Regardless, it's fun to play and it gets the crowd riled up. This was a difficult song to write about because I had several ways I wanted to go with how it sounded but when I asked the guys, they liked the rebellious, punk fighting kids against society idea best. Here is how it turned out, hope you guys liked it.

We ended up recording it and if you'd like to hear what it sounds like here is a link. Leave me a comment on what you think. Thanks.
