Beach Life a way to journey

Updated on May 17, 2015

Being a local from my little beach town of Wilmington, North Carolina and the surrounding areas, I thought some might be interested to try our local non chain food eateries that the locals love. This will encompasses a large area for most locals will travel to eat at wonderful local eateries and we do eat at the chain restaurants also but they are in most cities. Visitors from all overdo come to our wonderful town year round but the best time is anytime for we have the beaches to enjoy.

I'm going to first tell you of a little cafe called Lanes Ferry. It's located on highway 210 E if you come from I-40 East you make a left at the top of the exit ramp 408 and if coming from the west same exit number you make a right. You go maybe 3 miles until you come to a bridge, before you go across Lanes Ferry is to your left. It's also a bait/ice and boat ramp to go into the Cape fear River. Lanes Ferry is small but you can eat inside or out. The building is older and has been there a long while. As my mother in law says "It's the Southern part of Heaven!".

We do love good food and it's wonderful, now on Fridays and Saturdays they have BBQ, that cook on site fresh for those days. The owners are there and are wonderful people always checking on their guest's. We had lovely lunch, BBQ plate with chips and slaw, a loaded hotdog, a cheeseburger with fries and a double cheeseburger with fries. All was wonderful and very filling. They do breakfast and lunch.
