My Experience Being a Mike & Molly Audience Member

Updated on June 22, 2014

Mike & Molly

This is my second time posting an Audience Member Reaction hub. My previous hub was of my experience being a Big Bang Theory Audience Member, and now I decided it was time to post my experience being a Mike & Molly Audience Member. It was a completely different experience and it was far more enjoyable. I watch Mike and Molly from time to time so I am not a die hard fan of the show, but I do enjoy watching it when it's on.

The filming of the episode took place on the Warner Brothers Studio Lot in the studio that's across from The Big Bang Theory studio in Burbank, California.

Arriving to Warner Bros.

My family and I arrived around 2pm for the filming of Mike & Molly. We were not kicked out to the side parking lot like we were for Big Bang Theory, but instead we took our spot in line on the black benches and we sat and waited. Security came by around 4 to check our IDs (YOU WILL NOT GET IN WITHOUT A PHOTO ID, My dad brought his this time so he was able to go with us. He had forgotten it for Big Bang Theory and was not allowed in), and reminded us that we needed to leave our phones and cameras in our cars.

This time we had priority seating and were guaranteed seats. Security stamped our hands and we were then given numbers to keep us in order. We were taken onto the lot around 5pm because we were in the top 20 people to arrive first and we trudged to the back of the lot. I recommend looking at the huge plaques on the studios to see what has been filmed there. It ranges from movies to TV shows that have exceeded 100 episodes.

Being a Mike & Molly Audience Member

This time we were seated in the 2nd row from the front near the center aisle. It was a much more enjoyable experience because we could actually see things and there were less obstructions. We had the same host as before and he wasn't as annoying this time around, probably due to the fact that I wasn't extremely tired and uncomfortable as I was before.

Just like Big Bang Theory, we watched the previous episode of the episode that we were there to watch be filmed. I'm not sure if it has to do with the directors or the actors, but the only times they refilmed scenes were due to the fact that they messed up lines, not because they needed multiple camera angles. Everything was still hilarious and I enjoyed myself very much.

Prizes & After Filming

Since I was so close to the guy that was supposed to entertain us, I was given a tote bag. And unlike the Big Bang Theory cast, the Mike & Molly cast stayed afterwards and signed our stuff! I met (in order) Billy Gardell, Reno Wilson, Nyambi Nyambi, Katy Mixon and Melissa McCarthy!

Swoosie and Louis were not interested in signing more than five items a piece and quickly went to get pizza and hang out with the crew.

Yvette Nicole Brown (from Community and Drake and Josh) was also there to support Nyambi Nyambi and she also signed our stuff. She was so sweet and even tweeted my little brother the next day saying it was nice to meet him. We had seen a filming of The Soup with Joel McHale earlier that day so she was amused that we had met part of the cast of Community.

I will also do an audience member hub about my experience at The Soup filming.

Overall Reaction To Being A Mike & Molly Audience Member

This was definitely a much more enjoyable experience. We were fed better pizza than the Big Bang Theory filming, and I wasn't annoyed by the whole process like I was with Big Bang Theory. I loved being able to meet the cast and they were all so sweet and loved talking to us; they really cared that we enjoyed ourselves and I appreciate things like that.

Fun Fact: Billy Gardell's wife and probably his niece sat in front of us the whole time and we had no idea until Billy came up in between takes to give her a kiss.
