Benefits of pole dancing

Updated on November 5, 2013

Pole dancing can be seen in strip clubs and music videos; it is a way to seduce men or women out of their money, but it is also a great and exciting way to get into shape. Don’t worry about your age, weight, or size, because all the moves can be modified. Here is some other reason why you should ditch the gym and hit the pole.

Improves upper body strength

To bear your weight on the pole you’ll need a lot of upper body strength (lats, biceps, shoulders and forearms). The stronger you become the longer you will be able to hold your weight on the pole. You also need upper body strength as you climb and spin on the pole. If you don’t have the upper body strength to hold your own then you could start off doing some of the modified version and incorporate basic strength developing exercise to develop upper body strength.

Develop core strength

You’ll develop a strong core as you gracefully move around on the pole. Without core strength your upper body will be carrying extra loads of work; core strength will help you with your lifts and holds. When you think of core strength they think about the abs, but your core is more than just abs it’s your lower back oblique and hips; Pole dancing is a great way to truly develop your core.

The pole will begin to develop grim and grease as you use it. You should clean your pole just as often as you use it. You can use a tea towel an old t-shirt or some baby wipes to clean the pole. If you use the t-shirt or tea towel then dowse it in alcohol or spay some glass cleaner on it.
