Box Office Cartoons

There are only hundreds of famous and successful box office cartoons especially, Disney. Below, is a list of ten of the most successful ticket sellers in animated movie history. Computer technology has come a very long way.

Just like it was predicted, the technology that it is in place today, that we could only dream of in the past. The computer generated graphics have made these films look unbelievable. This break in technology has allowed engineers and producers to create all different kinds of animated scenes. The use of computer generated graphics allow engineers to create pretty much whatever they want in a movie. If it can be thought up, it can be created now-a-days. Some of the best actors in Hollywood do voice overs in these often hilarious movies. From the beginning of this technology until now, you can really tell a difference in the computer graphics. These cartoons are so much more detailed than the ones I grew up with in the 80s. Don't get me wrong, we were thankful for what we had but, today's graphics are awesome.

1. Toy Story 2: Pixar's computer animated sequel to Toy Story was hilarious from start to finish. Besides Woody and Buzz Lightyear, Mrs. Potato Head and Barbie are new to the cast. Woody is about to be permanently displayed in a museum and the others must save him from disaster. The film stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Kelsey Grammer as Stinky Pete. Toy Story 2, in my opinion, is just as good as Toy Story. It makes you wonder if this is what toys do when we are not around.

2. The Incredibles: Disney's Pixar did it again generating superb computer graphics in this super hero cartoon movie. The family of super heroes live a quiet life in the city but, fight crime at night. Their skills will be put to the test as the have to face a mad man and his raging machine. The movie has a good plot and the laughs are non stop throughout. This movie is great for the kids.

3. The Little Mermaid (1989): Ariel is a Princess under the sea as a Mermaid but, she wants to live the life of a human. Follow her on her journey which is at times funny and at other times very sad. In the end, Ariel becomes a human and gets married. There are parts of the cartoon that make you feel sorry for her and you want her to become human. This movie makes little girls want to look for their special someone and hope to get swept off their feet.

4. Finding Nemo: Computer graphics make this film look great and Ellen DeGeneres keeps the comedy coming. It is the largest selling DVD of all time and as the title states Nemo has been captured and it's up to three sharks to rescue him. Hi jinx equals high laughs. Nemo is a cute little animated cartoon. Both of my kids say this is their favorite cartoon movie.

5. Toy Story: Pixar's first film went all out with Tom Hanks, Don Rickles and Tim Allen as toys with a mission. They must find the kids Christmas presents and destroy the toys so that they will not get replaced. Mr. Potato head, Cowboy, Slinky and Bo Beep are featured in this outstanding family comedy. This film followed it's success with two sequels and an entire line up of toys and clothing.

6. The Lion King: This Walt Disney film is a cartoon musical that will have you on the edge of your seat. Simba is a baby Lion who one day will take over for his dad as king of the jungle but, Simba's father gets killed. Simba sets out to avenge his death but, soon learns that forgiveness is more important. It had so much success that they made a highly profitable sequel as well as toys and clothing merchandise.

7. Aladdin: This musical cartoon is based on the story of Aladdin and his magic rubbing lamp. Robin Williams is featured in this animated classic and he is off the hook. This film has spawned two sequels, three video games and countless toys. In the film a genie comes out of the lamp and grants Aladdin three wishes and that's when the fun begins.

8. Fantasia: The best animated musical you will ever see. Released in 1940 it was only Walt Disney's third movie at the time. The film is broken up into eight musically themed parts with Mickey Mouse and the Nutcracker being two of the classics that were made into an orchestra.

9. Chicken Run: England gave us this family comedy with the voices of Mel Gibson and Julia Sawalha as Chickens that know they are doomed to become fried chicken one day. The film centers on their escape from the farmers clutches.

10. Beauty and The Beast (1991): A men hateful man is punished by becoming a gross looking beast. The only way he can become a good looking man again is to make the beautiful girl in his company love him and look past his ugliness.

Great list, but unfortunately my favorite was not on the list..."Lady and the Tramp." My all-time favorite! I'm a sucker for romance. :)
