Best Animation Movies 2013

Updated on April 1, 2013

More than Just Being Animated, Animation Movies 2013 Will Live

Animation fans are going to have a treat next year with the animation movies 2013. As it has been proven that animated characters are as good as actors in bringing life to their characters, filmmakers have again endeavored to bring you the best animated flicks. The following is a shortlist of the upcoming animation movies 2013 that you should keep an eye on.

First on our list of best animation movies 2013 is Monsters University. This follow up movie is actually a prequel that tells the story of Mike and Sulley while they were in college. Pixar Animation Studios aims to release the film on June 21, 2013, meaning that you have to wait for more than one year.

But that could be a good thing because Pixar is going to have enough room for preparation so that the movie touches you the way the first Monsters did. Because people have seen Mike and Sulley as best friends, it’s about time that you see them in a different light. That is the kind of surprise this upcoming film brings to you.

Next on our list of animation movies 2013 is Leafmen - UPDATE: Title was changed to Epic. The 3D animation from Fox is an adaptation of the illustrated children’s book created by William Joyce.

Ice Age and Robots director Chris Wedge will take the director’s chair for the Leafmen that is set for release in 17 May 2013.

The story revolves around a colony of bugs that summons the Leafmen, a group of mythical creatures, to defend an old woman’s garden from the evil Spider Queen. You still have one year to get ready for this new adventure.

Another one that makes it our list of animation movies is Poe. Directed by Michael Sporn, Poe is talel about the life of legendary American writer and poet Edgar Allan Poe and the mysteries associated with his works.

Poe is written by Maxine Fisher. It is set for release on 6 June 2013, a few months after the Raven (starring John Cusack) is released. The animated film stars Mark Somen, Joana Scanlan, and Alfred Molina. More specific details about the plot and the movie development are yet to be released so be sure to check for more updates.

After the commercial success of Despicable Me, it is not hard to predict that Despicable Me 2 will follow soon. Universal Studios set the release of the second movie to July 2, 2013; still a long way to go and quite enough time to prepare and get the fans excited.

Although the first is not considered as the best animated film of its time, its story, actors, and script are enough to become successful. Writers Ken Daurio and Cinco Paul are now working on a script for a short animated film that will serve as the teaser for the second Despicable Me. Be sure to check for more news about the plot, trailer, and cast.

Another inclusion on our shortlist is Escape from Planet Earth. The animated film from Rainmaker Entertainment is set for release on February 14, 2013. We guess that the theaters will be packed up not just with lovers but kids as well.

The story of the film revolves around an adventure-hungry hero who is trapped in a hostile planet after responding to its SOS signal. The safety of the hero now depends on his brother who lives by the rules and has no heart for adventure.

The animated film, which is directed by Cal Brunker, features the voices from Jessica Alba, Brendan Fraser, Sarah Jessica Parker, Craig Robinson, James Gandolfini, and Rob Corddry.

You’ll never run out of good animation movies 2013 with Justin and the Knights of Valour. The story of the animated film revolves around a boy who embarks on a journey to his knighthood. More than the glory, he wins friendship and learns about the true meaning of courage and honor.

Directed by Manuel Sicilia, the film stars Saoirse Ronan, Mark Strong, and Antonio Banderas. More specific details about the movie such as the trailer, plot, and exact release dates are yet to be announced so be sure to check for updates regularly.

The current year still has a long way to go. But looking on the bright side, filmmakers are going to have enough time to bring the most entertaining animation movies 2013.

They all sound very interesting, but I cannot wait for Monster's University. I knew there was going to be a sequel to Tintin but I did not know there was going to be sequels to Despicable Me and Cloudy with a Chance of Meatballs. You have written very detailed descriptions on each of the movies, it makes me want to see them all!
