Disney Film Ranking

5 out of 5 stars from 1 rating of Toy Story 2

Ten From The Vault of Walt

This list in no way indicates all of Disney's major films. This is just a handful of some of the best the company has produced.

1. National Treasure (2004): Nicolas Cage plays a historian and cryptologist, searching for a lost treasure in Egypt. Ben Gates played by Nicolas Cage, is not the only one searching for these ancient artifacts and treasures. It is every man for himself, in this high drama movie with a hint of Indiana Jones in it, if you will. The plot, acting and music make this a great movie. A sequel came out later but, the original stands alone. To be honest, Nicholas Cage is my favorite actor, so I really enjoyed the film.

2. Toy Story (1995): Pixar scored a hit with this film animated by computer graphics. The cast was amazing. Tom Hanks, Tim Allen And Don Rickles just to name a few. This movie has had two sequels thus far, and it was the first full length movie to use exclusively computer generated graphics the whole time. The film is based on friendships between two toys (Hanks and Allen) and their ideas to save their lives from being thrown out or, replaced by new toys. I have seen toy story a lot. It is my kids favorite movie. Tom Hanks and Woody Allen have perfect voices for these adorable, well loved, characters.

3. Finding Nemo (2003): Albert Brooks and Ellen DeGeneres star together in Disney's Fifth Pixar Film together. Finding Nemo is the best selling DVD of all time and it is a story told from a fish point of view. Nemo is the only surviving fish in his family. This film is almost like SpongeBob Squarepants super sized with an "A list" of actors. In the end, Nemo ends up in a fish tank at a dentist office. There is a sequel to this film but, it will be nearly impossible to match the magic of the original.

4. Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest (2006): This was the second installment, in the now long running series. It stars Johnny Depp, Orlando Bloom and Stellan Skarsgard. This film won an Academy Award for Visual Effects. It is similar to the first except, the plot has changed up somewhat, and is has many more funny moments sprinkled throughout. A very silly movie for his caliber of movie making. However, my friend and I watched this movie twice at the movie theater. Johnny Depp was always a teenage crush of mine.

5. The Little Mermaid (1989): This animated musical is about a Mermaid named Ariel, who wants to become a full fledged human being. The music was breathtaking, and the story line was intriguing. This film was adapted from the book of the same title, and the movie won an Oscar for best original music score.

6. Pinocchio (1940): This was the second Disney film ever made, and it won two Oscar awards including, one for Best Music. Geppetto owns a toy store and he ends up making a puppet that he names Pinocchio. A fairy brings Pinnocchio to life and in order to become a real boy, he must never lie. You always know if he tells a fib because, his nose grows longer. I could quote this movie as a child. Mom always let us watch all of the Disney movies/films that we wanted to. She didn't have to worry about what we would be watching. She knew if it was Disney, it was clean. (Now in the year 2017, you can not trust Disney to be clean).

7. The Mighty Ducks (1992): This comedy film about a youth Hockey team has had a sequel and it stars Emilio Estevez as an attorney who through a twist of fate has to coach a little league hockey team. The team and everything about them are pathetic but the judge ordered Gordon Bombay (Estevez) to coach them or go to jail. The movie is hilarious especially for a family to watch.

8. Cinderella (1950): The film is the 12th Disney movie ever made and it is based on Cendrillon by author Charles Perrault. The film has a fairy tale ending since Cinderella finally marries her prince. Cinderella had to go through much grief before her marriage at the hands of her step sisters. Cinderella has been made into cartoons, films and even television shows. It is on of the most popular children's stories ever told.

9. Toy Story 2 (1999): Toy Story 2 stars Tom Hanks, Tim Allen and Kelsey Grammer. In this flick Woody (Hanks) and the gang venture out further than the house and yard. Now they end up in a museum and must make a choice to escape or stay. The music and humor were one of a kind. The movie won several awards including: Golden Globe for Best Picture and a Grammy Award for Best Song. The addition of Kelsey Grammer to Tom Hanks and Tim Allen was a no brainer. I am big fan of The Toy Story Franchise.

10. The Strongest Man in the World (1975): Kurt Russell and Eve Arden star in this crazy film. It has serious and silly moments wrapped into the movie. It is a weird film in which a chemical mixes in with the kids cereal and gives the person a super strength. It has many action seens but, it is pretty much a comedy and nothing more.

No matter how good Disney can be and has been in the past..... nothing can convince me that Star Wars is not doomed.... which is why I wrote
