My Favorite Drama Movies

1. Man on Fire: Denzel plays Creasy and is at his best as a body guard hired to protect a young girl named Pita but, when she goes missing he becomes a Man on Fire. He wants to get the ones who kidnapped the little girl, even if it costs him his life. The film is set in Mexico and also has Dakota Fanning and Christopher Walken. Denzel is truly ruthless in this film and he is no holds barred when it comes to getting vengeance.

2. Schindler's List: This film is about the Holocaust and a German who decides to stand up for the Jewish people. This movie is a fact based, tearjerker and a must see. The Hitler led Nazis were exterminating Jews and one man had the power to save. It's gruesome and shows some of the harsh realities of the holocaust. The film was purposely shot in black and white to portray the time period.

3. The Green Mile: Stephen King made an absolute gem with this one. John Coffee is on the mile for murder but, not only is he innocent, there is something else special about this gentle giant. The head guard on The Green Mile is played to perfection by Tom Hanks and he knows that John Coffee is a special man. He found out that Coffee has special powers and he used him to cure the warden's wife.

4. Sling Blade: This has to be in my opinion, one of Billy Bob Thornton's best performance as he plays a mentally challenged man with a bad past. This film is horrific and beautiful at the same time. Thornton is slow but, he knows about love. Some of the scenes in this film are funny some are serious but, all of them break entertaining. Jack Tripper was also a major player in this movie. This was also the last movie that Jack Tripper played in before he died.

5. Forrest Gump: Tom Hanks plays mentally handicapped Forrest Gump. Gump travels the globe from Alabama to Vietnam in this heartwarming fictional tale. The movie shows his life and his struggles. To me, this is Hanks best as he plays Forest and has to change his voice and actions dramatically for the role. We got the popular phrases from this movie such as, Run, Forrest Run!, Life is like a box of chocolates, you never know what you are gonna get.

6. The Shawshank Redemption: This film features Anthony Dufrain who was falsely imprisoned for murder but, Andy is smart, very smart. Morgan Freeman is awesome, as usual, as his eventual prison buddy who ends up helping him out. Dufrain digs his way out of his cell and to freedom even though, they say that the prison can't be escaped from.

7. Pulp Fiction: Sam Jackson, Bruce Willis and John Travolta keep this cult classic suspenseful and dramatic until the end. Jackson and Travolta play hit men. This film has a lot of violence and is very realistic. The plot is all over the place and the story line is very strange but that's what makes the film such a hit. This movie is a classic.

8 .John Q: This film is based on a true story. When a man's son needs a heart, the father will do anything to get him one. Anything, including taking a whole emergency room hostage. The tears and the anger are on high alert for John Quincy. This shows the trouble with the medical field and this was one of Denzel Washington's best films.

9. City of Angels: Nicolas Cage plays an Angel who falls from grace on purpose, out of love for a woman played elegantly by Meg Ryan. This was a great movie and Nicolas Cage and Meg Ryan had great chemistry together in this movie.

10. A Time To Kill: This courtroom drama features Samuel Jackson as a dad who killed two men for killing his daughter. Mathew McConaughey plays as Jackson's attorney in this cinematic masterpiece. This movie is very dramatic from beginning to end. Matthew McConaughey delivers a exceptional performance and he is perfect in his role as the defense attorney.

Pulp Fiction
