Film and Gaming Meet

1. Mortal Kombat (1995): All your favorite fighters are assembled for this film. True martial arts style fighting is featured in this movie that is based on Mortal Kombat 1 and 2. The final battle takes place in a castle and the finishing moves are horrific. This game was a huge success at arcades and home video game consoles which led to the film being made. Several sequels were released but the first one was, without a doubt, the best.

2. Resident Evil (2002): The film is loosely based on the video game and has made five films thus far. The films are rated R and follow the zombies and the fall out of the evil Umbrella organization. Wild dogs, the walking dead and many secrets await you in Resident Evil. The music is similar to that in the game, creepy. As far as special effects the movie is scary at points without a doubt.

3. Lara Croft Tomb Raider (2001): Angelina Jolie plays as Laura Croft and the movie takes place in Cambodia. Just like the game, Laura is in search of a Diamond but, finds herself facing robots and trying to figure out The Triangle of Light along the way. She uses weapons such as knives but her wits are how she survives her ordeal.

4. Alone in The Dark (2005): Christian Slater plays as a paranormal investigator who must find clues relating to real deaths. This film had a sequel, and sometimes finding ghosts is not a good thing. Boo!! It has some odd paranormal events that scare you throughout the film as well as the game.

5. Max Payne (2008): Mark Wahlberg plays as Max Payne who is a New York cop. His wife and child were brutally murdered and he is all about revenge. He eats it, sleeps and at night he lives for it in the streets. The game and film are very similar and the overall plot doesn't change much.

6. Silent Hill (2006): The film is based on the four Silent Hill video games and it is rated R for horror and violence. In this film cults takes on a whole new meaning. The film is largely based on the games from start to finish.

7. Double Dragon (1994): The film has the two martial arts brothers and they must fight to get the other half of the Double Dragon. The concept and story line are not great but, the fighting scenes are nice. Double Dragon is popular and it has produced two sequels.

8. Final Fantasy: The Spirits Within (2001): This alien science fiction film is largely based on the game of the same name. Computer animation is used to make this film unique. The movie stars Ving Rames and Alec Baldwin.

9. House of The Dead (2003): A rave soons turns to a zombie dance on an evil dead island. No more parties, this film has actual scenes strait from the light gun arcade version from the eighties. It is the corniest of these films by far but, a zombie movie is always fun.

10. Far Cry (2008): This film follows the video game to a T. You must defeat genetic freaks that were created at a military compound.

Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft

The film of Tomb Raider stayed true to the original game from the Sony Playstation. Angelina Jolie did a fantastic job in her role as Lara Croft. She was fast and agile and could climb and jump just like on the video game.
