Hollywood's Top 20 Film Stars in History

1. Robert De Niro: De Niro has been making movies since 1967 and he isn't done yet. He has been a Mafia gangster (Casino, Goodfellas, Godfather 2), a police officer (15 Minutes, Killer Elite, Ronin) and he has transcended and entered comedy (Analyze this, Analyze That, Meet the Parents Trilogy). He has made thrillers as well, like Hide and Seek and Cape Fear. In Cape Fear, De Niro was more or less a country red neck and he played him well. His versatility and the amount of quality films he has made makes him a rather easy choice for the best ever. My top films by De Niro are: Cape Fear and Awakenings.

2. Denzel Washington: Denzel is the nowadays version of De Niro because, he makes constant, quality movies on a regular basis. He is the most dramatic actor ever and he is great at portraying real life people like he did in, American Gangster, Malcolm X, The Hurricane and on Remember the Titans. A true legend who puts out classics every time and has already won two Oscars. My top films by Denzel are: Man on Fire and John Q.

3. Marlon Brando: Marlon Brando has made many classic hits and he is a natural talent on the screen. His role as The Godfather is memorable as were his performances in Apocalypse Now, On the Waterfront and The Formula. He won two Academy Awards in his distinguished acting career. My top films by Brando are: The Godfather and A Street Car named Desire.

4. Al Pacino: Pacino is very unique with his voice and how it carries. He has won too many awards to list them but, he is a skilled actor, to say the least. His skills in all three Godfather films and Devils Advocate alone make him a legend. But his role playing Tony Montana in Scarface makes him one of the best in history. My top films by Pacino are: Scarface and Heat.

5. Morgan Freeman: Freeman is a legend of the big screen. His voice demands respect and his film roles have garnered him that respect. He has been a convict (Shawshank Redemption), a detective (Seven, Along came a Spider) and even The President in Deep Impact. My top films by Mr. Freeman are: Glory and Lean on Me.

6. Tom Hanks: Hanks started out as a comedian but, over time, he transformed into a serious actor who is one of the best Hollywood has ever seen. He has won two Academy Awards and he was nominated for many other awards as well. He played a slow witted Alabama man (Forrest Gump, a war soldier in Saving Private Ryan) and a Death Row Corrections officer in, (Green Mile). My top films by Tom Hanks are: Cast Away and Philadelphia.

7. Nicholas Cage: He is a great action and drama actor, however, Cage has made several romantic comedies too. He has won many awards and he is extremely versatile on the screen. Cage is known for going beyond the script and putting his own creativeness into his work. My top films by Nick Cage are: Face Off and Gone in 60 Seconds.

8. John Travolta: Truth is it's hard not to respect this man. At first, he was a sitcom star on Welcome Back Kotter. He made Saturday Night Fever and of course, Grease. After he stared in Pulp Fiction, Travolta never let off the gear, making film after film. My favorite Travolta films are of the dancing disco man are: Pulp Fiction and Face Off.

9. Sean Penn: Penn has won two Academy Awards and for good reason. Penn can act well whether he makes you feel his anger, sadness or mourning, he makes you feel like it's real. When he was in Mystic River I realized he was a great actor. My top movies by Sean Penn are: Mystic River and Carlito's Way.

10. Brad Pitt: Pitt has been around earning his stripes from the beginning with Across the Tracks and Johnny Suede but, he stuck with it. Now, he is one of the most sought after actors alive. He has 4 Academy Award nominations and he is far from finished. My top movies by Brad Pitt are: Seven and Inglorious Bastards.

11. Harrison Ford: Ford is most famous for playing as Hans Solo in Star Wars and as Indiana Jones but, he has been around the acting scene for a while. He has the ability to make you very emotional when he performs. My top movies by the great Harrison Ford are: The Fugitive and Air Force One.

12. Johnny Depp: Depp has had roles as gangsters, drug addicts and pirates. He can play in any role and his work proves it. He became a star on the television show called 21 Jump Street. From there he turned to the silver screen and lit it up. My top movies by Johnny Depp are: Blow and Donnie Brasco.

13. Tommy Lee Jones: He has played in many different roles which is why he ranks high on this list. He has won an Academy Award and has been nominated for three others. If it seems like he has been around forever it is because he has. He made his first film in 1969 and he has no plans to retire anytime soon. My top movies by Mr. Jones are: The Fugitive and U.S. Marshals.

14. Dustin Hoffman: Hoffman won 2 Academy Awards and 5 Golden Globe Awards. He has been in comedy films such as (Meet the Fockers) and serious roles such as, (Rain Man). His skills are unmatched in all of Hollywood. You can cry or get mad but, remember it's because he is a great actor that you can feel those emotions.

15. Samuel Jackson: Jackson has won several awards and if it seems like he is in a movie all the time, it's because he is. Jackson overcame drug addiction and quite possibly his dedication to acting had a role in his recovery. My top movies by Sam L. Jackson are: Pulp Fiction and The Negotiator.

16. Billy Bob Thornton: His work as a lame brained killer in Sling Blade is impeccable but, he has also been in comedy films such as Bad Santa and Mr. Woodcock. He can play nearly any role and in any genre. He has won an Academy Award and has had many other nominations. My top movies by Billy Bob are: Sling Blade and Armageddon.

17. Paul Newman: Newman had won an Academy and was nominated for others and he is so famous that he has a salad dressing bearing his name sold at grocery stores worldwide. He learned his trade at the famed N.Y. Actors Studio and it paid dividends. My top movies by Paul Newman are: The Color of Money and Road to Perdition.

18. Christopher Walken: Mr. Walken seems to be uncomfortable onstage but, on the contrary because, he lives for the cameras. This was witnessed by his Oscar win for Deer Hunter and the wide range of characters he has portrayed including N.Y. Gangster Frank White. My top movies by over the top Walken are: King of New York and Deer Hunter.

19. Liam Neesan: This Irish actor has within an Academy award and he is multi-talented. He is as a diverse an actor as you will ever find. Neesan has acted in over 75 films and list continues to grow to this day. My top favorite Liam Neesan movies are Schindlers' List and Gangs Of New York.

20. Michael Douglas: Douglas is won two academy awards and four golden globe awards. He began acting in 1966, and still puts out top notch work to this day. He is known as being a producer, as much as an actor. My top favorite movies by Michael Douglas are: A Perfect Murder and Falling Down.
