Updated on April 8, 2017

Hey folks! It's now 2017 and of course many of us expect more and more Korean dramas this year. As the year goes by since the first time I write about Korean entertainment industry, an evolution of plots also happens. What I mean is that, new dramas, new plots, new characters and of course a new list to watch out.

So are you ready to get to know more dramas of 2017?

Before going down the list, let me ask you first this question.

Who is the Korean actor you are waiting for comeback on the small screen?

See results

Goblin

Also known as the Guardian: The Lonely and Great God that stars Gong Yoo, Kim Go Eun, Lee Dong-wook, Yoo In-na and Yook Sung-jae. When you will ask normal people about goblin (those who don't watch K-dramas), somw of them will answer you that it is a montrous creature from European culture. Well, that is correct, but in K drama, Goblin refers to Kim Shin who is cursed with immortality but uses his powers to help other people.

This is a worth watching drama with a perfect definition of fantasy. The lead characters were all good playing their part.

Mystery Queen

Many of us are searching for detective related dramas with high rated, popular cast in it. Well, this 2017, mark your calendar as Choi Kang Hee leads you to her story being a female detective.

With the high numbers of people dreaming of becoming a police officer, Choi Kang Hee belongs to this percentage. Since her childhood, she wants to serve her countrymen. Her dream comes true when she meets passionate detective Kwon Sang Woo. This lead them to work as one and solve different cases in the society.

Weightlifting Fairy Kim Bok-joo

Aside from fantasy drama, a school-student-sports related story is very popular among viewers all over the world. This is not a typical drama with a rich guy fall in love with Cinderella but somewhat both characters are engaged in sports. It's not new to us that Ahn Jae-hyun played a swimmer as we have watched him in Who Are You? School 2015. On the othet hand, Lee Sung Kyung who previously stars in Cheese in the Trap shows her amazing skills as she played the character of a weightlifter in this drama.

Why you should watch this drama? This is a geniune kind of story as to friendship, family, goals, love, career and priorities. In addition, this drama will take you to the next level of a school drama with scenes that you expect to happened but actually twisted that will make you surprised and think more.

Legend of the Blue Sea

If you have miss Jun Ji-hyun on the small screen, well, this drama will make you miss her again on its ending episode. When she played as Cheon Song Yi, her name becomes a talk in the drama world as what she did in My Sassy Girl. Moreover, Lee Min-ho's hotness overloads in this drama so you better not droll in every episode. This drama is based on the Joseon legend of historical folktales thats tell about the story of a mermaid captured by a fisherman. The character played by Lee Min-ho, a son of a noble family falls in love with Jun Ji-hyun, who is a mermaid. But there love story ended when Lee Min-ho married another girl.

In the modern day, there were incarnated and meet again just how they meet in the past. Lee Min Ho is now an artist while Jun Ji-hyun is still a mermaid and she was given a name by Min Ho. Will their story ends up just like how sad their story in the past? Will their second life gives them another chance to have a happy ending? Well, let's see. And yes, you will only know it if you watch Legend of the Blue Sea.

Tomorrow With You

A 2017 drama that stars Shin Min Ah and Lee Je Hoon. It tells the story of Lee Je Hoon, a CEO of a real state company who foresees his future living in a miserable life. So he decides to marry Shin Min Ah to avoid this ill fate. At first, he doesn't love his wife but in the end, he learns to love her. Shin Min Ah plays as a photographer who is also the wife of Lee Je Hoon. This drama will actually help you to understand what married couples are. The plot is realistic and the cinematography is great.

What I like more in this drama compared to others that I've watch in the past is that the next scene is unpredictable and of course will make you think many times just like how you can solve a puzzle game. There are some funny scenes. And if you are also looking for a romantic one, then this is also advisable to watch. Talking about the cast, Lee Joon will make you fall in love again just like how you fall in love with him in his previous dramas. What to expect more? Oh wait! Don't forget Shin Min Ah who also make you laugh and smile in her character in My Girlfriend Is A Gumiho. Well, the next thing you need to do is to include it on your list now or better watch it now.

Rebel: Thief Who Stole the People

If you are into historical-melodrama-romance, then you should include on your list this drama that made its pilot episode on the 23rd day of January 2017. This drama is set during the reign of King Yeonsangun, that tells the story of the son of a servant named Hong Gil-dong who stole from the rich people and give it to the poor. Moreover, we will witness his journey in becoming the first Joseon's revolutionary activist. The mere fact that his parents have no standing in the society leads him to become the leader of smugglera who steal from the rich.

Will he succeeds for fighting the rights of common people as becoming Joseon's first revolutionary activist?

Innocent Defendant

If you are looking for a legal thriller drama then you should include on your list Ji Sung's "Innocent Defendant" which began airing on January 23, 2017. Aside from this multi talented and award winning actor, SNSD's Kwon Yuri is also one of the cast playing the charactet of Seo Eun Hye, a defense lawyer who aims to be eloquent and rational in every cases she handles but loses in court in every hearing.

So what is this drama about and what to expect as a k drama lover?

This centers the life of Ji Sung (as Park Jung-woo), a famous prosecutor in the country who never loses in every cases he handles. Until one day, he wakes up and finds out that he ia facing death row. He actually loses his memory, suffering from a temporary amnesia. I've watched legal drama before, A New Leaf, aired years ago and I was really amazed with it's pilot episode and its cast but sadly, I am not happy with its ending. With this new drama, I am expecting a different Ji Sung and Yuri compared to their previous dramas.

Will he recover his memory? What are the secrets lie on his conviction? Will Yuri can help him finding and solving every puzzle that will give answers on this mystery?

Ms. Perfect

For women and those who are looking for motivationa in life , Ms. Perfect is the right drama for you. It is a story of a woman that has two kids who because of all the hardships she experienced in life, her temper become worst. Until one day, she gets involved in a serious case thus changes her to regain herself. So if you like this lind of story, then you should include this on your list. Otherwise, your secons thought will be considering its main cast. We have Ko So-young and Yoo Sang-hyun playing the main characters of this drama.
