Best Movie of the Year: District 9 Movie Review
No Spoilers, Don't Worry
District 9 is, in my opinion, the best movie of the year. In fact, it is one of the best movies I have ever seen. The plot is unlike any other alien movie plot. To give you a basic overview, the movie talks about a ship that, 28 years ago, stopped over Johannesburg, South Africa. After some debate, it was decided that the humans would send a group of people up to the ship to see who, or what, was on board. To their surprise, the humans discovered an enormous group of malnourished aliens. So, they built a place, District 9, for them to live in Johannesburg. However, things don't work out too well for the aliens or the humans.
There are many aspects of this movie that I thoroughly enjoyed. One was the animation. The aliens looked so incredibly real. Plus, their language was unique, and it was interesting to see how they interacted with the humans. While watching District 9, I became completely submerged to the point that I thought the movie was reality. This movie was also interesting in that in was not far from reality. In many cases, we treat people as the aliens were treated in the movie, with disrespect. The movie really sent a message about the true cruelty inherent in many humans and how it should not be tolerated. District 9 was also cleverly done in the sense that it appeals to a wide variety of people. If you are looking for an action-packed movie that will keep you on the edge of your seat throughout, then this is the movie for you. If you are looking for a movie that will make you think after you watch it, then this is movie for you. In fact, most people, excluding those who are grossed out by gory images, are likely to love this movie. I definitely suggest you see this movie, and i hope you like it as much as I did.
