Sci-Fi Classics

1. Alien: Sigourney Weaver became a star in this science fiction classic in which a highly sophisticated alien, attacks a space shift and all its crew members. The space shift lands on a strange planet to make small repairs. This is when they find out they are not alone. This film spawned several sequels and the special effects, that are out of this world, even if it was a little far fetched of a film. It is still weird and entertaining to say the least. This was the best of the movies in the franchise, and it was ahead of its time. A movie like this was kind of creepy in the fact that, the aliens would almost talk like the humans. They did a very good impression.

2. E.T.: This is one of my favorite movies of all times. This was a movie that we grew up on. Stephen Spielberg made this film about E.T. (extra terrestrial) which is a friendly alien who is lost on earth. A family befriends E.T. with the goal of helping him get home but, they have to keep him hidden from government officials, in the mean time. In this film, an alien spacecraft leaves earth and leaves E.T. behind by mistake. E.T. was a movie that I grew up on and we had watched it so many times.

3. Total Recall: This Sci-Fi film stars Arnold Schwarzenegger about Earth and Mars coinciding since Mars is a colony now. Flashbacks and special effects are featured heavily in this movie that pits two planets with different goals against each other. It has some very odd and unique galactic creatures. This movie has since been remade for the big screen. In my opinion, the original was the best. It just wasn't the same without Arnold Schwarzenegger.

4. The Terminator: Arnold is back playing an android sent back in time from the future to kill a military enforcer. The machines in this film are sophisticated like humans but they are nearly indestructible. The Terminator will stop at nothing to get his target so get ready for a fast, action Lacked thriller in this science fiction classic that has made several sequels .Linda Hamilton was excellent playing Sara Conner.

5. The Planet of the Apes: (2001) Tim Roth and Mark Wahlberg do an excellent job in this remake of this fantasy films about a world ruled by apes instead of humans. In the movie Leo, played by Wahlberg is an astronaut that crashed on a planet occupied by intelligent apes. He is now a prisoner but, a prisoner who is going to fight back or die trying.

6. Star Wars: In this fictional galaxy far from earth, aliens and humans coincide with each other. The film tells a story of good vs. evil. Evil is of course Darth Vader and Luke is the good guy. This film has had sequels, cartoons, books and everything else in between released based on it's popularity. May the Force be with you.

7. The Matrix: Larry Fishburne and Keanu Reeves take the lead in this futuristic ilm where reality is distorted by machines who seek to control the human race. A few people led by Reeves break out of the trance and have to find a way to free the rest of the population. The effects in this film are amazing with acrobatic fighting moves.

8. Back To The Future: Michael J. Fox and Christopher Lloyd make this film worthwhile. A Science Fiction comedy movie that is hilarious the whole time. Go back in time, go back to the future but do not forget the present. Lloyd is the mad scientist who designs the teleporting car. If you have ever heard the name Biff its a good chance it's from this movie that made two sequels.

9. The Thing: A flesh eating Alien parasite lands in Antarctica and precedes to kill off the research team members and all of the animals in the snow covered region. They must figure out how to stop this monster or perish. Everything from fire to dynamite is tried in this horror/Sci-Fi movie by John Carpenter. The Thing was made into a video game for the Play Station II.

10. Avatar: Avatar has a very complex story line but, the aliens are almost human and when James Cameron produces a film it is top notch. The characters and the planet was almost surreal and a sequel has already hit the shelves. Sigourney Weaver who is no stranger to Aliens herself stars in this film. In my opinion, she is perfect for this movie.
