This comedy series ran for 9 season from July 5, 1989 to May 14, 1998. The show is still highly featured as a re-run on various television stations and still has a cult following. Starring Jerry Seinfeld, Jason Alexander, and Julie Louis Dreyfus, the series follows the lead characters life as he lives his life in New York City as a stand up comic. The show has the tag line to be a show about nothing, but obviously it has something to remain so near and dear to many watcher's hearts.

The show is a type of variety show which features current stars in Hollywood in the show's comedic skits. The actors and actresses have changed a variety of times over the years but the show remains fresh and new by utilizing new musical acts and current stars to remain in the mainstream. SNL has become well known for their digital shorts.

# 5 The Simpsons

This animated series about the middle class family The Simpsons began airing December 17, 1989 and has been going strong since. The series follows characters Homer, Marge, Bart, Lisa, and Maggie as they go through life in their town Springfield. The show takes current events that are happening in society and makes it part of the show. This is what helps keep the show fresh and new because it is always changing with the times to match American Society.

Watch a Clip From All In The Family

# 6 All In The Family

The television series "All In The Family" follows Archie Bunker and his family. Bunker is a working class man with a lot of opinions. He doesn't always have the right opinions but he has a lot of heart and though at first he may be very wrong, he always seems to see the light and come out alright. The series has a lot of laughs and a lot of tears and was a perfect mix of serious and funny. It starred Carroll O'Connor, Jean Stapleton, Rob Reiner, and Sally Struthers. The series kept fresh and current by featuring topics that were occurring in the real world at the time. Bunker often comes off like a bigot who is stubborn and possibly racist but his heart always outshines his wrong ideas/beliefs.

Watch a Clip from ER

# 7 ER

This medical series began airing on September 19th, 1994 and ran until April 2, 2009. It was a major stepping stone for George Clooney's and Julianna Margulies's rises to stardom. However, the show was not based on merely one character. The show saw many character changes throughout the years but the show was always able to capture the heart and the drama of the show as it followed nurses' and doctors' lives in the ER.

Watch Clips from Friends

# 8 Friends

Starring Jennifer Aniston, Courtney Cox, Matt Leblanc, Matthew Perry, David Schwimmer, and Lisa Kudrow "Friends" began airing on September 22, 1994 and aired until May 6, 2004. The series focuses on six friends and their life together in New York City. The show watches the characters move through adulthood, dating, relationships, work, and most of all friendship.

Watch Lost Clip

# 9 Lost

In many ways "Lost" was the first of its kind. It was a highly confusing and mysterious television show and even today the show's premise is still discussed and argued about. I don't know if anyone truly knows what was happening on the show. The show's supernatural premise begins when a flight crashes on an island leaving the survivors stranded and lost. The show aired for six seasons and still has a lot of unanswered questions even after its finale. I am still truly lost as to what "Lost" was about.

Watch a clip From The Big Bang Theory

# 10 The Big Bang Theory

The show began airing in September of 2007, and follows the life of two physicist Sheldon and Leonard, a waitress named Penny, mechanical engineer Howard, and astrophysicist Raj. The four male characters are highly intelligent but very awkward socially. Penny on the other hand is very socially adept but not nearly as intelligent as the four male characters. The difference between the characters offers many opportunities for comedic story lines.

Kenneth, thank you very much that means a lot to me. It's so hard in the writing world, and writers often doubt themselves. I'm glad you enjoyed it! Now if I could only find an agent for my novels ;)

      susan,

This is an excellent piece of writing. To be totally-honest, it can easily be described as amazing.

I loved every word. Graphics were superb. This hub was helpful, informative and I found it very interesting.

I might have included The Andy Griffith Show, Mary Tyler Moore Show and Bonanza, but that is a stretch. Many of my favorites are on your list.

Voted up and all the choices because you deserve it.

You have such a gift for writing. Keep writing no matter what.

      Sincerely,

      Kenneth Avery, Hamilton, Alabama
