Black Girl Magic has been one of the biggest social media trends for many Black Women this year. As the 2017-year comes to a wrap, it’s good to recognize the young female professionals and entrepreneurs who are adding more magic to the world and are making great career impacts while doing so. This is a list featuring individuals (age 30 & Under) that are taking a lead and making waves in the Media and Entertainment Industry. The list highlights some of the most driven and talented Millennial Black women across the nation.
This list is the first of many more to come.
1. Jamila Mustafa- Broadcast Journalist & Actress Age: 24 Location: New York, NY
Jamila Mustafa is the host of BET BREAKS on bet.com, Alexa Amazon, and BET NETWORKS’ BET JAMS. Miss Mustafa also host Set Trippin as well as red carpets, sit-down interviews, and event coverage for BET. On Monday's Jamila serves as a panelist on I Heart Media's Fresh Pick Live and was the former host of ESPN's Rucker Park Classic appearing on Fox, Comcast, Madam Noire and more. Jamila has also starred as the biggest pop star in Gieco's VMA national commercial.
FUN FACT: Jamila has a black belt in Martial Arts and served as Miss Delaware State University 2015.

2. Janay Coplon - Segment Producer, Vice Media / 495 Productions Age: 27 Location: Stamford, Connecticut
During Janay Coplon's career, she has worked on productions and events for Viceland, VH1, Spotify, WWE, Meredith Corp, PBS, and Google. In addition to working as a television producer, she works as a freelance PR account manager. Outside of her daily work, she has started a non-profit organization called "Hey Sis", and enjoy inspiring and collaborating with other young media professionals on everything from career advancement, documentaries, scriptwriting, web series, pilots, start-ups and more
3. Amber Grimes - Senior Manager, Urban Independent Label Services Age: 27 Location: Atlanta, GA
Amber Grimes works for Spotify based in Atlanta. She oversees Spotify's independent Hip Hop and R&B releases and work with various departments within the company to build out comprehensive marketing plans for them.
4. Shantal Anderson - Television & Digital Media Producer Age: 29 Location: Los Angeles, CA
Shantal Anderson works as both a Television Producer and Production Supervisor for various networks such as CBS, NBC, CW, ABC, FOX GSN and others. She also works as the Head of Creative Development at Wilshire Productions based in Los Angeles, California. She's worked major televised events such as the The Olympic Games in Rio de Janiero, Brazil. The Super Bowl Halftime show, The BET awards, The Oscars, Billboard Awards, Nickeoldeon Kids Choice Awards, E3 Expo Live on Youtube, Beat Shazam hosted by Jamie Foxx VH1 HipHop Squares and VH1 Hip Hop Honors Awards, GSN Idiot Test and many more.
Shantal's work on the 51st Superbowl Halftime Show has earned her a Primetime Emmy Nomination.
5. Alex Holley - Co-Host/Anchor of FOX 29’s “Good Day Philadelphia” Age: 28 Location: Philadelphia, PA
Alex Holley is the co-host of the morning show “Good Day Philadelphia” on FOX29 that broadcasts to all of the greater Philadelphia area, South Jersey, and Delaware. From 6-10AM every weekday morning, the program covers a range of topics from local and national issues, to celebrity and entertainment news. Alex Holley joined the FOX 29 news team in the summer of 2014. Prior to that, she worked as an anchor, reporter, and producer at KOMU-TV in Columbia, Missouri.
6. Joy Young - Day-to-Day Manager at Wondaland Management Age: 30 Location: Atlanta, Georgia
Joy Young's career thrives in both the music and television industries. She is a day-to-day manager at Wondaland Management. Wondaland's management clients are Janelle Monáe, Jidenna, St. Beauty, Roman GianArthur, Deep Cotton, and Angela Rye. She is also the founding CEO of Playtime Talent Group and J.Couture Productions. At Playtime, she manages talents like DJ Poizon Ivy, Hamilton Park and Keith Jacobs. At J.Couture Productions, she creates and directs digital content, produces tours, and overseas special events productions. Previous clients include big companies like Atlantic Records, Warner Music Group, BET and many more.
7. Rachel Scott - ABC News Producer Age: 24 Location: New York, NY
Rachel Scott is a graduate of the University of Southern California. She is a journalist for ABC News where she produces and reports across platforms for digital, radio and broadcast. Prior to joining ABC News, Rachel worked at KCBS/KCAL9 News in Los Angeles. In 2012, she was selected for an internship at the White House.
At ABC News, Rachel Scott produces and reports for the network’s digital, radio and broadcast platforms. Since joining ABC News, she has reported on the ground in Florida following Hurricane Irma, reported live in the network’s special of the “Great American Eclipse,” and has interviewed newsmakers like Oprah Winfrey. A California-native, she has covered Hollywood's biggest award shows and movie premieres including the Oscars, the Grammy's, the MTV Movie Awards and the Video Music Awards. She also produces live coverage for the network’s digital platform which provided live analysis during the 2016 Elections, the 2017 Presidential Inauguration, and in Florida following Hurricane Irma.
8. Shanae Humphrey - Casting & Television Producer Age: 30 Location: Los Angeles, CA
Shanae Humphrey is currently a Casting Producer at Pitman Casting. Her role as a Casting Producer has been most rewarding and successful with her casting ventures which include working with such networks as Bravo, CW, E!, GSN, Lifetime, Spike, CBS and many more.
Shanae Humphrey also was a Talent Producer on ABC’s Match Game, a Producer on Vh1’s Hip Hop Squares and an Associate Producer for Bravo’s new show Love Italian Style. Bravo’s “Love Italian Style” will focus on new love as it follows five African-American bachelorettes as they head to Italy with relationship expert Diann Valentine, who has been enlisted to help this lovelorn group find the one… AKA a hot Italian hubby.
9. Tahajah Samuels - Digital Publicity Account Manager Age: 26 Location: New York, NY
Tahajah is the Account Manager at Brigade Marketing. She creates and implements digital publicity campaigns for various film studios - from some of Hollywood's Major Studios to Independent entertainment companies. It's her job to ensure the online space is buzzing about a film's upcoming release via exclusive content debuts to social media chats to new media activations and experiences.
10. Novia Rose - Associate News Editor & Celebrity Correspondent Age: 28 Location: New York, NY
Novia Rose works in several different areas of the Entertainment Industry. She is the Associate News Editor and Celebrity Correspondent for Everything Girls Love, LLC (EGL), Editor In Chief Of NoveeRose.com, and Social Media Director for News Cult, LLC & Bond Brand Management.
11. Keri Carpenter - Television Writer & Producer Age: 30 Location: Los Angeles, CA
Keri is a TV producer, currently for America's Next Top Model. She’s the photoshoot producer and oversees photo shoots, which means she develops the creative for each shoot, book/collaborate with the photographers, perform the judge, host and celebrity interviews and oversee our crew of 75+ people on set during every shoot. She is also Tyra Banks' go-to producer, so she creates hair/styling/makeup and wardrobe mood boards for her approval for every shoot.
In addition to ANTM, she Executive Produced, created, and wrote a sketch comedy pilot for the Trinity Broadcasting Network.
12. Mercendez Springer - Associate Producer & Film Critic Age: 29 Location: Atlanta, GA
Mercendez has been an Associate Producer for multiple shows on Lifetime, Bravo, and VH1. She focuses on story building, and developing creative content to follow the shows talent. She develops and produces multiple panel discussion at Clark Atlanta University. Mercendez has also started the journey writing as a film critic.
Her most recent job is being an Associate Producer on VH1’s Teyana and Iman Season 1.
