Blockbuster On Demand is No Long Available On VIZIO Internet Apps HDTV

VIZIO is always working to sign up the key content partners to give you, the viewer, as much choice and enjoyment as possible in the new world of Internet-connected, interactive high definition television.

Back in January 2011 VIZIO announced that new content partner Blockbuster On Demand would be available on VIZIO Internet Apps (VIA). Blockbuster subsequently went bankrupt and was purchased in April 2011 by the DISH Network.

Now Blockbuster is no longer available as a VIZIO Internet App -- new owner DISH Network rebranded it as Blockbuster Movie Pass and currently offers it exclusively to DISH Network Subscribers.

VIZIO Class XVT Series Internet Apps HDTV

NEWS -- The VIZIO 3SV models with Internet Apps contain all the popular features of earlier models with Internet Apps with added appearance and technology improvements.

Each model can be connected to the Internet via integrated Wireless-n Wi-Fi or via the included Ethernet port through your router and broadband modem. Make sure you have sufficient bandwidth to fully enjoy your new HDTV experience.

I am really disappointed in their decision and I will not go back to blockbuster looks like cinema now has my business. I wish I would not have bought movies and left them in my library... Not a good business management decision!!!

      Hi Dogknight and Sean --

I sympathize with your disappointment. However, I believe VIZIO should be not blamed for actions by Blockbuster. It would help others to know why you thought BLOCKBUSTER came with VIZIO.

      Not happy.

A week ago, I selected a 55" Vizio Smart TV because it had the BlockBuster on Demand widget, I was very please with the purchase.

I rented the movie Moneyball and everything was fine until 3 nights later when the Blockbuster app seemingly disappeared after a software update.

Now its going back to Costco as soon as I wake up and load it on the truck. I am not happy.

I'm not happy, I'm not happy.I'mnot happy. What am I?

Yes, you know what I am. I'm not happy.

Yea, it's only $60.00 or so a year for net flix, but the free Blockbuster is why I chose my 55" Vizio over the LG.

Just thought it was cool that they did that, only to find out it was BS. NOT COOL...

Hi Upsetting! and Not happy --

Once The Dish Network gets comfortable with their Blockbuster business model for "exclusively for their Subscribers Only," they may decide (my speculation only) that they would like to make more money by offering to other subscribers. We'll see what happens in a year or so. --Best wishes!

I just found out last night that my blockcrapper app is gone from my vizio also. We really enjoyed using the app...seems like blockcrapper would be losing a great deal of money from this decision...thanks for posting

We were so excited when we got the Vizio tv back in November 2011, finally got around to using the blockbuster app late December and really enjoyed the convienence of not having to go out and rent a movie when netflix or redbox selections were slim. Then suddenly a couple weeks ago the app disappeared and I've been trying to figure out how to get it back and it's been driving me crazy! Ugh, well, we're also dish network customers so I guess we'll have to look into the movie pass. Thanks for posting this, you're probably the only one that has.
