Bold Predictions for WWE SummerSlam 2016
Sting vs The Undertaker Retirement Match
This year will be The Undertakers last Wrestlemania. The man has done it all in the business and really only has one opponent left. The same can be said for Sting. He announced that he is not retiring and his neck is fine. This is all setting up for an epic showdown in Sting and Undertakers final match ever. This will headline SummerSlam. The set up begins when Sting helps Shane win at Wrestlemania 32. I still think this may be the main event because what better way to end Wrestlemania 32 then with Sting and Undertaker in an epic stare down. This won't be personal against Undertaker, but for Sting it will avenge his losses to The Authority and he can be the man to put the final nail in the coffin and bring about a new era in WWE. WWE will now have five months to advertise for this match. No real set up is required. Shane will make this a retirement match for the Undertaker. Sting needs to go over in this match after losing his first two matches in WWE and he is the only person on the planet that can retire the Undertaker. Sting will of course retire the next evening on WWE Raw, but that is fine. I am not sure this match really needs to be a Hell in a Cell. These two guys have giving everything to the business. Let them go out in style. The locker room needs to empty after the match and all his old wrestling mates like Ric Flair, Vader, Lex Luger, Hogan, and Undertakers biggest rivals in the ring celebrating the careers of two of the greatest wrestlers ever. WWE can sell this match with nothing but video packages.
Triple H vs Seth Rollins
I believe this match would have happened at Wrestlemania 32 if Seth would not have been injured. This match may even be for the WWE World Heavyweight Championship if WWE goes that route at Wrestlemania 32. This is a feud that has been brewing since Seth Rollins joined the Authority. He will come back as a baby face and be immediately the most popular guy on the roster. This match will be a wrestling classic between two great ring technicians. Think about the last time Triple H was in the ring with a great pure wrestler. Triple H and Daniel Bryan is a match I still go back and watch today. This match will be no different. Because of other matches on the card this won't steal the show but may be the best actual wrestling match on the card. Seth Rollins either wins cleanly or Triple H wins by cheating helping Rollins baby face role and setting up a rematch at the next PPV.
Brock Lesnar vs ???
Here is the thing with Brock Lesnar. He always takes off after Wrestlemania and comes back to wrestle at SummerSlam. My first choice is a returning Kurt Angle. I still believe Angle comes back Monday Night after Wrestlemania on Raw. Brock Lesnar renewing his rivalry with Kurt Angle would be great with the possibility of a retirement match at Wrestlemania 33. It makes sense. Kurt goes into the hall of fame and another real wrestler puts him away. This elevates Brock Lesnar to having defeated the Undertakers streak and retiring Kurt Angle. Could you imagine the Paul Heyman promos? So if Kurt doesn't come back who does he clash with? My next choice is Bray Wyatt even though I still believe Wyatt gets added to the Dean Ambrose vs Brock Lesnar match at Wrestlemania 32. Bray Wyatt vs Brock Lesnar needs to be hell in a cell or some other kind of gimmick match. The pure brutality these two can display will make this a must see. This match will happen sooner or later. This really depends if any one comes back or not. One other name is Roman Reigns. if he is champion this would be a great match up of two titans. It could legitimize Roman Reigns as a true warrior.
Roman Reigns vs Dean Ambrose WWE Heavyweight Championship
This depends on where they go with this at Wrestlemania. While I believe Triple H walks out champion and Roman Reigns has a monster heel turn, WWE could go the predictable route and put the strap on Roman Reigns. Either way he is a heel by SummerSlam. A heel Roman Reigns against a baby face Dean Ambrose would mean Roman getting nuclear heat! Just the crowd in this match would make it worth watching. Even better is the history these two men have with each other. If this is for the title I believe Ambrose wins by disqualification keeping the WWE Championship on Reigns and making people despise him even more. Dean will win the title at some point just not at SummerSlam.
Heel Dolph Ziggler vs AJ Styles Intercontinental Championship
I almost put Kevin Owens vs AJ Styles except I think they have a rivalry right after Wrestlemania and AJ ends up with the Championship. Styles is super hot right now and riding that momentum with the Intercontinental Championship into SummerSlam and facing hell Dolph Ziggler will be amazing. The two can have a master wrestling match. Heel Ziggler will not win here. While this will be a great match, I think AJ Styles pulls it out.
Kevin Owens vs Randy Orton
KO meets the RKO in a clash of new and old. Randy Orton doesn't have to be full heel or baby face and this match still works. Typical match here with two really good workers. Randy Orton will need a feud to get him going before he goes up against Roman Reigns at a later date. Fun match with Kevin Owens winning clean after kicking out on RKO.
John Cena vs Shane O Mac
This one is tough. They need to keep John Cena away from the WWE Championship if he is a good guy. If he turns heel then he will have already had a rivalry with Roman Reigns and came out of it on the losing end. John Cena will beat Ric Flairs record at some point. Not sure how much longer he will be wrestling but that has to be one of his goals. Sinking sales and viewership being down will force Vince to turn John Cena heel. Nothing else will help ratings at this point unless that happens. So I predict it will be John Cena vs Shane O Mac in a street fight. Seeing Cena vs Shane in a street fight would be an instant classic. Cena has unmatched strength and as a heel he can show that strength off with brutality.Shane is a mad man in these type of matches. Honestly I have a list of guys I never want to fight and he is on that list. It is the pure fact of how much punishment he can take.
New Day vs Heel Usos vs The Dudley Boys
The New Day have recently turned baby face and have a border line boring rivalry with The Yawn of ... I mean The League of Nations. Hopefully the New Day get out of this as soon as they can. The Usos are in need of a major character change. They have grown stale and people just don't care about them any more. If the Dudley Boys last until SummerSlam as a team then they should be involved in this match as well. The three teams all have chemistry together and should make for a wild and entertaining match.
Sasha Banks vs Bayley in a Ladder Match Divas Championship
This rivalry will bleed over to WWE Raw at some point. I also believe these two are exactly who you want to feature in a Divas Championship ladder match. They already broke new ground with an Iron Woman match so this is the next logical step. Other then the Taker vs Sting match this will steal the show. This is awesome chants will ring out all over the arena. Maybe even a match of the year candidate.
