12 Years a Slave

Commentary: This film is set in Louisiana and it is based on the true story of Solomon Northup who was kidnapped and forced into being a slave. This movie is very touching and it makes you mad and sad at the same time. It won three different Academy Awards and watching it will leave you speechless. The movie shows the perspective of a plantation slave and his journey for survival. A true tearjerker to say the least but the movie was made well and the acting was superb. What a hard story, but, a necessary story to be told.

Grade: A+

Fight Club (1999)

Brad Pitt fights in illegal underground fights in the film Fight Club which is rated R for extreme violence and language.

Fight Club

Commentary: Brad Pitt and Edward Norton do a fantastic acting job in this action film. The fighting, gun battles and drama are outstanding in this hit. The Fight Club is formed by Norton in his bar's basement and only invited players can watch and bet on the massacre. The punches, knees, elbows, kicks and cheating tactics are always coming in full force.

Snatch

Commentary: Brad Pitt plays an Irish Traveler who ends up showing his fighting skills for money. The storyline goes in several directions in this hilarious gangster film. The movie is in the criminal underworld in Britain and diamonds are at stake in ine corner and lives at stake in the other. A great job by Pitt in playing an Irishman straight from Ireland because he isn't Irish and he is from America.

Inglorious Basterds (2009)

Aside from the ten featured in this blog the ones in this capsule could be considered 11-20.

Inglorious Bastards

Commentary: Brad Pitt plays in this Quentin Tarantino war movie set during WW2. Pitt and several other Jewish soldiers are sent out to hunt down Nazi soldiers and kill them in brutal fashion to send a message to Hitler. The movie has tons of drama and adventure but, the violence is unreal and not to be watched by those with a weak stomach. The movie is realistic and it makes you think about the War. It even has captions for when Hitler speaks German.

Grade: A

Seven (1995)

Brad Pitt played alongside Morgan Freeman as detectives in this awesome thriller. The killer (Kevin Spacey) has done the unthinkable to Detective Mills (Brad Pitt).

Seven

Commentary: Brad Pitt and Morgan Freeman are detectives who must stop a serial killer who used the seven deadly sins to commit his crimes. Kevin Spacey is the psycho and Gwyneth Paltrow co-stars as Pitt's wife. This crime film is full of action, suspense and intense drama. The final ten to fifteen minutes of this movie are some of the most dramatic I've ever seen. What's in the box? What's in the box?

Grade: A+

Across the Tracks (1989)

Brad Pitt and Rick Schroder play as brothers in the movie "Across the Tracks" which is about Track and Field and being competitive to a fault.

Across the Tracks

Commentary: Brad Pitt and Rick Schroder are brothers going in opposite directions until fate brings them close together. They both compete in Track and Field and one of them may make it to the top while the other is stuck at the bottom. An emotional movie that has some really deep parts throughout. Life is hard for one who is dealing with drugs and a crime filled life while the other is an A plus student who is a star track runner.

Grade: A-

Assassination of Jesse James (2007)

Brad Pitt played as the outlaw Jesse James in the film entitled "The Assassination of Jesse James by the Coward Robert Ford".

The Assassination of Jesse James

Commentary: Brad Pitt plays as the outlaw Jesse James and his eventual killer Robert Ford is played by Casey Affleck, who did an outstanding job by the way. The movie follows the adult life and death of Jesse James as he robs banks and trains before being betrayed and shot to death. A drama as much as an action flick. Based on the real life of Jesse James, the movie pays close attention to detail and Pitt was excellent.

Grade: A

Birthplace of Brad Pitt (Shawnee, Ok)

Spy Game Movie Trailer (2001)

Spy Game

Commentary: Brad Pitt stars alongside Robert Redford in this action movie. The two play as CIA Agents who have to deal with undercover secrets that few know about and then there is the threat of China. The gun play and spy equipment alone make this a must see adventure. It's very entertaining with lots of fast paced scenes scattered from beginning to end throughout the film.

Grade: B

World War Z Movie Trailer (2013)

World War Z

Commentary: World War Z is based on the book of the same title. A zombie outbreak is threatening the world and Brad Pitt plays an investigator that must put a stop to it. Military specialists help him fight off the zombies which come with speed and ruthless efficiency. The action, horror, suspense and drama were on full force in this freaky creature flick.

Grade: B-

Mr. and Mrs. Smith (2005)

Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie starred together in the popular film Mr. and Mrs. Smith. Both are assassins but the other doesn't know this. To make matters worse they are married.

Mr. and Mrs. Smith

Commentary: This film is an action- comedy with a little bit of a love angle mixed in. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie play a married couple and they are both assassins. The only problem is neither one knows the other is an assassin. Plenty of fighting, explosions, laughter and romantic scenes. These two ended up getting together as a couple and eventually getting married based on starring in this movie together. The dancing scene between the two after they discover that other are assassins are priceless.

I just watched Legends of the Fall the other night on Netflix and loved it. I really likes The Curious Case of Benjamin Buttons too. It was such a unique movie. He starred with Anthony Hopkins in Legend and Meet Joe Black. Such a great twosome.
