When will Bridget Jones 3 be released?
Bridget Jones 3
Are you looking forward to the new Bridget Jones Movie?
English writer Helen Fielding initially started writing Bridget Jones Diary as a newspaper column but it quickly became a popular book and then turned in to a successful movie.
This was soon followed by Bridget Jones: Edge of Reason, which seemed to mirror the same success as the first.
The second instalment of Bridget Jones saw Bridget still obsessed with boyfriend Mark Darcy as well as her daily calorie, alcohol and cigarette intake. Bridget's life was thrown into chaos after being wrongly accused of trying to smuggle drugs.
On top of that she had just had her pervy ex boss Daniel Cleaver come back into her life which resulted in yet another hilarious scuffle between Mark and Daniel in the local fountain no less. The movie ended with Bridget Jones and Mark Darcy becoming engaged, leaving the door wide open for a trilogy.
For years there has been speculation of a third movie. Renee Zellweger only has to put on a few pounds and it is assumed that she is getting back in to her role of Bridget Jones. But now it has been confirmed that Bridget Jones 3 is finally going ahead.
It was common knowledge that Renee was reluctant to make a third movie as she had to put on lots of weight for the other two. However producers have now told the actress that she does not need to put on any weight to reprise her role. The third installment of Bridget Jones will see Bridget looking smug as she gets on the scales and discover that she has finally reached her ideal weight.
Colin Firth has always said he is keen to do a third Bridget Jones and he is said to be over the moon that he can play Mark Darcy once again. Hugh Grant has also been signed up to reprise his role of Daniel Cleaver.
The production company Working Title have confirmed that the third movie is in the early stages of production and the film is due to be released some time this year. Script writers are planning a huge twist between the three main characters and it is set to be very exciting stuff.
Helen Fieldings last articles on Bridget Jones told the tale of Bridget still being on and off with Mark Darcy, but having a brief encounter with Daniel Cleaver.
Bridget later discovers she is pregnant but is unsure who the father is. In Helen Fielding's last column entry she wrote about Bridget giving birth to a baby boy fathered by Daniel Cleaver, she then moved in with Daniel but Mark Darcy was still very much in her life even offering to adopt the baby as his own.
The last column ended with the words "Bridget is giving every attention to the care of her newborn son, and is too busy to keep up her Diary for the time being."
So will we see a baby love triangle in the new film? or maybe Bridget will end up having her happy ever after with Mark Darcy after all. whatever happens I for one can't wait to see it.
A musical adaption of Bridget Jones Diary is also in production at the moment, starring Sheridan Smith as Bridget. If successful the show will open in London's west end later this year.
Bridget Jones Mad About the Boy
Mad about the Boy
Helen Fielding's third novel is set 18 years after the second book. Bridget is now 51 years old and a full time Mum of two children who she had with husband Mark Darcy.
In the new book, Mark Darcy has died and is only mentioned through Bridget's memories. Daniel Cleaver is the children's godfather and is the same playboy he always was except an older version.
Although in her last column for the independent, Helen Fielding wrote about Bridget being pregnant with Daniel Cleavers baby and Mark Darcy wishing to adopt the child, Helen changed direction in the new book and Bridget ended up marrying Mark Darcy and having two children with him instead.
This was quite confusing at first, but I felt it made a better storyline for Bridget. In the new book, Bridget is writing her own book as well as discovering the world of social media, email and texting. While familiarising herself with Twitter, Bridget gets talking to a younger man who she soon begins dating, much to the envy of all her friends.
The book had me laughing along with Bridget's escapades. It was also quite sad in places as well. I have no doubt that 'About a boy' will make a great movie.
