Daniel Goddard Fired From the Young and the Restless. Cane Leaving Genoa City but He May Not Have Katherine's Fortune
Something wicked this way comes on The Young and the Restless
Soap Hub has just announced that Daniel Goddard has been fired from The Young and the Restless. His character, Cane has been on autopilot ever since Lily went to jail then later divorced him. The actor confirmed and said he was as shocked as his fans that he has been let go. Perhaps this means the mystery urrounding Katherine's will may soon be wrapped up. On Tuesday's episode, the expert hired by Jill confirmed the authenticity of the will pages that Cane brought back from Los Vegas. Along with Esther, they discussed how this revelation was going to trouble Devon. It makes absolutely no sense that Katherine Chancellor left the bulk of her estate to a man who is not a blood relative.
This revelation opens a Pandora's box rather than closing a chapter. It is very strange that neither Tucker nor Chance can be found, which suggests someone else is behind the fraud. Cane stated on Tuesday that Phillip Chancellor the IV has gone deep undercover. Jill bought the story but there is no way it can be verified. With Danie Goddard being written out, it's possible it could turn out that he indeed perpetuated this hoax. Cane may leave town broke, busted, and disgusted, or with Katherine's billions.
There is also the issue of Amanda referring to an old man. Since the new will takes away Devon's inheritance, it is being assumed that Tucker is the mastermind behind the documents that made his son a billionaire. This opens the door for the possibility that Colin might be the one who wants his own son to benefit from Katherine's legacy. The only other older man on The Young and the Restless would be Victor, who would have no reason to perpetuate such a fraud. The fact that everything has been done in secret is a red flag. This is why viewers should prepare themselves to expect blowback regarding this situation.
Devon must decide what to do
Amanda told Devon on Monday, that the statute of limitation has run out regarding contesting the will, so he decided to put the matter behind him. Jill and Cane, however, are saying that Katherine's wishes should be honored. Esther pointed out how devastating it will be for Devon to find out that his own father deceived him, but is it true? Nothing about this situation seems to make sense and in the middle of it, Lily will soon return. She may advise her brother to do the right thing and turn over his inheritance to Cane, or she might tell her ex-husband to leave things as they are.
Devon will have to make a major decision and whatever he does will be painful for all involved. He will need to think critically regarding recent events in order to see this thing through. He should investigate why Cane was knocked out prior to being given the new will pages and wonder where they have been all this time. Why did it take so long for this information to come to light, and can Jill's expert be trusted. What if Colin is indeed behind this mess and he knew which expert Jill would use. He could have paid for Cane and Jill to be given false information. This is all speculation but something is clearly off in this situation.
When Christel Khalil went on recurring status, her character Lily divorced Cane, their children went off to college and their home was sold. The Young and the Restless writers had Traci crushing on Cane and using him as the hero in her latest book. Later Mr. Ashby attempted to begin a romance with Ms. Abbott but she shut him down. It seemed as if the powers that be could not find a place for Lily's ex to fit and some viewers speculated that the handwriting was on the wall for the popular character.
Now he is involved in this crazy situation where he could end up with Katherine Chancellor's fortune. None of it makes sense and Cane Ashby deserved better. Not long ago Daniel Goddard tweeted photos of himself and Christel Khalil which gave the impression they might get back together, Now that he has been forced off of the CBS daytime drama, that is no longer an option. Stay tuned for updates related to how and when Goddard will exit Genoa City.
