Celebrities who had bad teeth before they were stars
We like to imagine our celebrities being like gods and goddesses, perfect and beautiful and flawless. Most of their “perfection,” however, comes with money and a host of beauty experts and trainers who keep them elegant and healthy…so that we spend more money to see them! Some stars seem to have been born beautiful. Think of Julia Roberts, Nicole Kidman, Channing Tatum, Kate Bosworth, Jessica Biel. Others seem to have grown into beauty or good looks. Think of Britney Spears, Jennifer Hudson, Chloë Sevigny, Drew Barrymore, and Vin Diesel. One thing that many people overlook in their own appearance is good teeth. True, that some of us were born with good teeth, and others were not. But all of us can improve our teeth and our smile – if we have the time and the money. And we know that stars have money to improve their smiles. But could they have prevented the need by investing a little time in their own dental care? A little brushing and flossing goes a long way.
Want to hear some gossip? Here are some stars who had their teeth improved a lot!
Some of them had horrible teeth, the sort that can be career-killers. Here are some of our favorite stars with much improved mouths:
Shane McGowan – The singer of the indie band The Pogues, he lost all this teeth due to the rock party lifestyle.
Liam Gallagher – The singer of the class 90’s band Oasis, he lost his front teeth in one of his many bar fights.
Tom Cruise – Along with a nose job, the mega-star had major dental work early on in his career to make him larger-than-life.
David Bowie – This rock superstar didn’t start out with a model mouth, more like an alien set of teeth. Now he’s all smiles!
Nicholas Cage – This crazy actor had a crazy set of teeth before getting the powerful snappers he’s now blessed with.
Catherine Zeta-Jones – Yes, she’s a great beauty, but some expensive Hollywood dental work helped make her a goddess.
Cheryl Cole – Star on the British X-factor, she shelled out some bucks to get that glamorous smile.
Keith Urban – The cool Aussie husband of beauty Nicole Kidman, he had to get his mouth straight before hitting the big time.
50 Cent – Notorious rapper and playboy, he had to polish up his image some before pulling in millions of mainstream entertainment dollars.
Elliott Yamin -- American singer known for his hit single "Wait for You" and placing third on the fifth season of American Idol, he’s famous for radical mouth work that turned his smile from zero to hero.
Stars are not born but made.
The next time you look in the mirror, notice your teeth up close. Are they clean and white, straight and attractive? Are you kissable? There are various ways that a good dentist and cosmetic surgeon can help you (if you have the cash): teeth whitening, veneers, implants, crowns, shaping, bonding, and orthodontic treatment. Want to look like your favorite star with a million dollar smile? Visit your local cosmetic dentist. Or better yet, find out who worked on Tom Cruise!
Prevention is cheapest route
While some things about your teeth you can not change without a dentist, there are some things you can prevent from changing. The health of your teeth and the color of your teeth are usually a direct result in how well you take care of them. Brushing and flossing is really important. Some of the stars mentioned above could have prevented the need to have the drastic cosmetic dental surgery if they had invested four minutes a day. Invest the four-five minutes a day, it is worth it.
