Celebrities I have met and their story. Part 1- Ted Nugent.

Updated on February 23, 2015

The one and only....

King Nuge The Great!

I am here to take a break from the norm for me (there really isn't a norm, because I write about everything : ) and share some stories about the celebs I have had the pleasure or misfortune of meeting.

Here is the story of my encounter with the foul mouthed, guitar slamming, tea toting, hunting, Motor City Mad Man, turned Motor Mouthed Family Man. He and I share Rock and Roll idols in Jimi Hendrix, of course ( Ted met Jimi, I did not), taste in music and a strong love for American Freedom.

Think or say what you may about Ted Nugent's music, politics, and public statements, but I will tell you that I will never forget meeting him! Ted was one of the coolest down to earth " big brother" type of guys I have ever met. In fact, when I saw him I said "Hey Ted, how are you?" and he replied " Hey man! I am awesome and loving life...How are you doing?" Though we only talked for about 4-5 minutes, I could tell that he was a caring, Spiritual person.

Years later, I saw him in concert and made it to the second row I think was. I was enjoying that moment as he was totally on that day! Sure enough, he looked over with a blank stare until I looked back and smiled. Then, believe it or not, he smiled, and nodded.

He is the coolest dude, I have met in a long time! There are a few other celebs I will say the same about, but Ted impressed me as a man who loves other people and human contact. He didn't have to say anything back when I said hey, but to stop and talk to me, a nobody. That told me all I needed to know.

Mike: Awesome hub! My last name is actually Nugent (unfortunately not related to Ted, but it is a small world so you never know, right?) My brothers met him at a concert and said he seemed like a really nice guy. He seems like he would be a crazy rock star, but I guess he's just a nice, normal guy! What an awesome story, Mike. Thanks for sharing! :)

He used to be a crazy, wild rock star. Family life has calmed him down.

Mike, I caught him years ago at New Haven Coliseum in Connecticut. The live version (extended) of Stranglehold was serious. Never met him, but have heard all of what was mentioned in this Hub. I did, however, meet Eddie Van Halen at Manny's Music in NYC. Thanks for writing some positive stuff about Ted. I'm into Jeff Beck as well and quite honestly Frank Zappa had it tighter than tight.

Thanks for the feed back! It must have been awesome to meet Eddie. I would have liked to have met Frank! He was pretty crazy I bet.

I know he was always over the top but I bet I would really enjoy meeting him, he sounds like he is very down to earth.
