Charice Wows The World

There’s no stopping Charice Pempengco when it comes to pleasing her fans all over the world. The success of his single, Pyramid, at the US Billboard Hot 100 Singles Chart and her debut album, Charice, at 200 US Billboard Album Chart, this petite Filipina singer proved her detractors wrong. After the third place finish in the Little Big Star Finals produced by ABS-CBN Channel 2, she was losing her hopes of becoming a recording artist someday. But through the patience and guiding hands of her mother and being discovered as YouTube sensation, through the efforts of FalseVoice, all her sacrifices slowly paid off.

Charice caught the admirations of various variety and talk show productions in South Korea, United States and even Europe. The likes of Ellen Degeneres and Oprah Winfrey added luster to her budding career’s portfolio when she was invited to grace and sing in their shows respectively. With these huge achievements, Canadian music producer and composer David Foster never let her go and even composed songs just for her. The prolific songwriter Diane Warren gave her composition, Note To God, for Charice to sing. It reached the number 1 position in Digital Singles Chart in the internet.

At the span of three years, since 2007 until now (2010), Charice always look back to her humble beginnings. From a struggling six years old to an eighteen-year-old debutante, she said that she joined more than 100 amateur singing contests, in many city or town fiestas and television shows just to make things end meet. Even though, there are no more news about her estranged father, she keeps her fingers crossed and hopes that she will be able to talk to him again.

The world is just like a playground to this teeny bopper. With her powerful voice as her weapon in the singing world, the battle for success is just beginning. She’s thankful that she never lack stints in many shows outside the country. With her busy schedules, she’s enjoying the fruits of her God-given talent.

This petite young lady will surely conquer the world, no doubt about that. When I saw her at the finals of the Little, Big Star of ABS-CBN Philippines, I was amazed of the power of the voice. Yet, the final ranking put her into the third best, defeated by two other male teenage singers (Sam Concepcion was declared the champion) and nearly lost his hope to be known in the music industry of the country. Charmaine Clarice Relucio Pempengco (born May 10, 1992), better known as Charice, is a Filipina singer who rose to popularity through YouTube. Dubbed by Oprah Winfrey as the Most Talented Girl in the World,she is the first Asian in history to land in the Top 10 of the Billboard 200 album chart.

The simple life in San Pedro, Laguna didn't hinder her desire to show her singing prowess. WIth her mother as her closest ally cum mother-manager, they braved the rigors of joining contests at the age of seven until she was spotted on television singing her way to the musicdom.

With the uploads and visits on her site and videos through YouTube, she became an instant internet phenomenon. You can imagine how happy is her countrymen with her achievements these days. Little girls are also mimicking her singing style and hope to become like her someday.

Great oppurtunities are budding like flowers in her hands. Just recently, she sang the Philippine National Anthem during the inauguration of the new President of the nation, Benigno Aquino III on June 30, 2010.

The world is her playground now. More and more singing engagements and charity works occupy most of her time. Aside from these achievements, in 2009, Charice became the Operation Smile's International Ambassador.

This hub is not enough to tell her story, like the legendary Cinderella. There are people who are trying to put her down, but she shines through. I'm sure, she'll have the last laugh in the end, although, she always keep her feet on the ground.
